Marketing Newbie Lost Advice on Plan of Action Please

I am brand spankin' new at internet marketing. I have a vision of a blog/website that speaks to women about daily life, bringing positivity into their lives.

I have been keeping the bills paid by writing for others but I am tired of writing for pennies making other people money. I don't get paid a lot, 1.00 for 500 words, because I just began putting my writing out there. Previously I was a graphic designer. BUT

Now I want to earn a GOOD living by writing about what interests me. Can anyone tell me a plan of action that will not cost me over 20-30 a month investment?

My best bet is you could try and start a blog and make it popular with the money that you have. Or, you could head on over to YouTube and make videos about your topic. I have a friend that makes instructional videos and YouTube and advertisement companies pay him for it. Or, you could try and start a forum community and make it popular via SEO or Social Media.

    However, nothing is guaranteed.

I have purchased a domain, and put WP on it. It currently has one post ( just bought it this week). My question is how do I go about making it popular.

Once again, think of me as a small child as I have never ventured into this territory before.

I would say the same thing that Growmyforumcommunity has said. Problogger and blogtyrant have lots of tips on what to do if you want to grow your blog and earn a good income from it.
Also, these things take time so you have to be in it for the long haul.

    All the best

    Hi,

Good advice, above, but I'd focus on doing what you do and making more money by charging more. $1 per 500 wds is way too low. And you'll need to look for better pay somewhere else. I'm sure there are people here who will pay well for good writing. But I suspect they're in the minority.

I've been working full time as a freelance writer and copywriter for about 3 years. I charge much more than that, sometimes a great deal more depending on the writing assignment, and people pay for it. But I never promote my writing here.

Check out this WSO. It's how to find and approach offline businesses and get paid well for writing. It's $7.99 which is not bad.

    http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ients-pay.html

Strongly recommend you find a way to get in front of offline businesses and away from the typical IM'er who wants 500 words for $1. That's seriously selling your self short.

Also, continue to learn more about writing and specifically how to write for the web. Maybe you know all that, but I don't know what you know.

Always work on improving your knowledge about writing. And then, the only way to get better is to write as I'm sure you know. Try and write every day, if possible. Learn how to write really good article/post titles and headlines.

You can learn some basics about copywriting and that will also help your article writing.

Doing the blog is fine. But I'm telling you, if you're a decent to good writer you should be making at least $3 or $4 per 100 words. And also learn how to do specialty type jobs like product reviews. You can charge more.

    And good luck.

Made a mistake in the last paragraph... so bumping this so you'll see the change. It's about what you should be charging, at a minimum. (But not here.)

Thanks for all the good advice. Will look into the link posted thank you As for the Empower Network, I had heard of it. But the lady who I spoke with completely turned me off to it. Maybe you can explain better, but basically she said she got paid to sign people up. That is not what I am looking for.

I just wonder if you have tried to offer your writing on Fiverr or Gigbucks. I´m sure you could charge $ 5 - 10 for a 500 word blogpost. What´s important here is your reputation. If you deliver quality work people will be willing to pay.

I suggest continuing your writing stint but look for employers that are willing to pay you more. If you really got the skills then I don't see the reason why you are settling for such low rates. Give more value to your skills, time and effort. I think you can start blogging for your own site on the side while saving for your own site. You are good in writing and IM needs much of that... so take it to your advantage.

Sdc1977 - you need to learn what a real internet business looks like first and then build one.

    In very simple terms:

    1. Find a "group" of people who are really suffering from a problem and need a solution. You seem to have this women who want to lead spiritually a better life.

    2. From that "group" create a character - call he Susy. What problems is she suffering from? How old is she? What does she feel? Think? or Say?

    3. Offer a solution to Susy? Speak to her when offering her this solution - excahnge your solution in return for her email. By doing this anyone who is reading will identify with Susy and give up their email.

    4. Build rapport with your list. Give them valuable information so they trust you. Become the expert in your field.

    5. Eventually sell stuff to them - your own products or others. Become the authority, then write a book and go on chat shows.

    Simple.....but not easy. Good luck!!

1/ Go into the WF and look for warriors for hire. List your service as an article writer. You will soon make a lot more money than $1 if your articles are well written.

2/ Pick a niche or topic where people are already sending / buying info products. Find out what the hottest topic is and write a 1,500 word report that picks one problem and provides one solution to it. Then sell it on WF.

    You will make money fast!
