I agree with you but the prob is many individual web service providers find it hard to get clients...

Many people depends on bidding sites like odesk, freelancer, elance etc etc... but we know bidding is painful process... insn't it?

also many service providers dont get projects from those sites at all ... either they are new, or they dont have high skills, or they are working alone ...

there comes fiverr... just create a gig and wait... if you r lucky then fine...

and if you get a sale and your rating increases and you start performing in fiverr search... you start getting clients...

While most of your reasoning is quite appropriate, there are quite a few "starters" out there with absolutely no starting capital, and in their case, fiverr is probably their best bet to start getting some money to buy a domain, hosting and anything else they want/need.

There must be some decent money in it for those offering services that are easy to do and don't take a lot of time. However, I buy on Fiverr and don't sell.

I certainly wouldn't offer my writing services on there.

I would offer something that takes little or no effort for $5. Like perhaps an email subscription a mini course or newsletter where all you have to do is send them to a page where they enter their email address. Not bad for $5.

Or do something that takes no more than 2 minutes to do. Something that's easy for you, but that many others cannot do, or find difficult or time consuming. Think of people who offer a professional sounding 30 second voiceover for $5. Before Fiverr I don't think there was any place you could get such value. And 10 years ago, a service like that would have probably cost $200.

But I agree, we should not offer services that take us half an hour or an hour to do for $5. No need to work for minimum wage. Stick to something that takes no more than a couple of minutes for you to do. Nice way to make some extra pocket money. Then when we get to the point of making hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars, selling info products for $47, $497, $997, etc, then of course, it wouldn't make sense to spend even 2 minutes to make $5. Until then, making $5 for 2 minutes of work is equal to $120/hr. I'm willing to bet there are many people who would be happy with that kind of money. Of course, it's not likely anyone could line up 8 hours worth of work per day at $120/hr, but even 4 or 5 fiverr gigs a day than take 2 minutes each is some nice pocket money.

I think you need to review Fiverr Gig Extras. $5 a pop is history for many.

From a buyer standpoint you've completely overlooked arbitrage too.

I do agree that some people are putting too much focus into it though rather than spreading their eggs.

Fiverr is a good starting place to get your online business off the ground. It can hone your business skills, get you thinking about copy and sharpen your customer service.

Internet marketing is a complete goose chase for most people, the average person trying to make money with adsense, or Clickbank, or even a more "sophisticated" freelance site will try and fail and fail and fail.

The reason that Fiverr tends to be popular with IM newbies is that basically anybody can make *SOME* money at it. No, you can't make a living at it... But really, think about it: how many people are actually here to learn how to do IM full time? Probably not that many. Most people just want to experience the thrill of making a few extra bucks.

And I have a million times more respect for a Fiverr freelancer than somebody who buys $500 IM products and can't make a cent off them.

lol. I like your rant!! But you seem to have missed a trick....while writing a whole 500 word unique article may take time, it can be good practice and help you to build a portfolio before you come onto the WF to offer your skills as a quality content writer. This being just one example!

Another is, if you wrote a quality ebook...like best openings for best man speech, for example. You could then stick it on fivver for an instant delivery (within 24hrs). If you then keep an eye on your email...as most of us do...everytime you get a ping, thats money in the bank baby!!

Each mail is someone asking you to send them an already completed product that you just have to then email out. If your really smart...you can then pass this task onto your VA as just one more additional task to help fill their time!!

I agree that it's best not to put too much effort into Fiverr. If you can find gigs that require little to no time (selling PLR, for instance), it can make a nice supplement in your income. Relying on a single provider for a majority of your income is a shaky prospect. One TOS change and you might find yourself completely out of an income.

Those are some other really good points! Using Fiverr to hone your skills then charge more. Or, you act as the middleman, sell a service for $50, get someone on Fiverr to fulfill the order for $5 and you profit $45. And in some countries, $300 a month can support a comfortable middle class lifestyle.

Also important to remember, I think after you attain a certain level of sales, you can offer additional add-ons, like charging $5 or $10, etc, for the .psd source file. That takes virtually no extra time to add it as an attachment, but you could double or triple your earnings. Even if the buyer doesn't opt for it, you still made $5. And if you're a pro with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop (and have plugins/filters) you can probably whip off a graphic or login in 5 minutes or less and still get $5 for it.

It seems that you have a grudge against Fiverr. LOL. Seriously, I don't see anything wrong with people making money from Fiverr. If you're into Fiverr, it doesn't mean that you are not a serious businessman or marketer. In fact, selling your services on Fiverr is a great way to learn the tricks of the IM trade. If you notice the top sellers on Fiverr, they are very good in marketing their services which made them stand out above the rest of the crowd.

Not everyone can pursue IM full-time, you have to understand that. Many marketers need some side money to invest in their business or to pay their bills while they try to build up their online business. If they see that Fiverr has serious moneymaking potential, then why hold it against them? I don't see Fiverr getting in the way of Internet marketing.

There are people on fiverr making $10,000, $12,000, $20,000 and probably more each and every month, but of course, they shouldn't be doing that because:

a) who wants money?
b) more money = more problems
c) money is the source of all evil
d) ????



Just like there are people that know how to make big bucks with blogging, list building, social sites, etc. there are people that find it easier to make money on fiverr.

I wouldn't be quick to dismiss anything that actually helps people to make money.

I personally sell in Fiverr and have never complained about it.

You can easily use Gig Extras to charge as much as you like. Also, you determine what will go for $5. For example, if you are an expert writer charging $50 per 500 words in other platforms, you can easily create a Fiverr gig selling at $5 per 50 words. Therefore if someone wants 500 words, you get your 50.

You can then market that in your emails and stuff. Once you get to level 1 seller, you can use gig extras to make it easy for people to order.

Personally, I consider Fiverr one of the best places for both freelancers and those looking to buy.

Fiverr can be good money if you know how to leverage it well, just like anything this can be a business too even though it is only $5 a pop.( well $4 since fiverr takes $1)

You probably won't be in the same league as people with huge email lists doing blasts and easily getting $10,000 in 1 email blast but for some people, fiverr works and their happy.

Ok let me start by saying that I have never used Fiver to make money but I have used Fiver to purchase services.

It seems fairly obvouse that you dont have much Fiver experience as you are missing some really important points.

First thing to keep in mind that its $5 minimum, with the gig extras it can get well over $5. For example I recently hired a woman to do a voice over. She charged $5 for 25 words, my script was 175 words. So the charged me $5*7=$35. Thats to read a 1 minute script. But lets say with processing, uploading etc it took her 20 minutes. That means she made an hourly rate of $105 for my gig. And she has gigs 2 weeks backed up. Even if my gig is rare and most of hers are only 1/2 that cost she is still making $50 an hour or $100K per year is she remains busy. $100k from a spare room in your house is no joke.

Ok lets use another person, who did a video intro for me. They used a template/script to insert my logo in a premade intro, they also likely do these in batch jobs. So they set 6 or 8 of them and let the computer do its thing. If there doing 6 per hours (set it up, output, etc) then they are making $30 per hour or $60K per year. Again nothing to sneeze at.

The point is you can make a TON of money on Fiver. Provided you do the following.

1) Do a gig that is in high demand and will keep you busy.
2) Do a gig that is prone to upsell (such as the lady with the voice over since most scripts are going to be well over 25 words)
3) Do a gig that takes very little effort or time or one that you can set and forget (such as the people doing video intros with batch jobs)

You are correct about the quality of service you get for just $5 at fiverr. But truth be told that there are really high-quality service providers in there that can truly deliver. And you are right on your assumption that internet marketers must be serious with their business.
