How to Gain Million of Pinterest Followers?

Some successful pinners who have about 1 mln or more followers say that they got so many followers by doing nothing, but just pinning their favorite stuff(at least it is what they say). I mean that they are not SEO or online marketing gurus.

They seem to have in common few thousand pins and description of their pins (which obviously helps). However I see that there are also pinners that have much more pins - crazy amount like 50k-60k, but still have only few thousands followers.

I have tried to make similar pins to those guys who have more than 1 mln of followers, also did a description, but barely got a few repins and maybe gained 1 -2 followers. Got almost 200 pins at the moments, but only a handful of followers. So what I can be doing wrong here?

And any tips on how to gain million of followers? (I am not talking of course about buying followers, but about genuine followers)

Well, since you're looking for genuine followers, there is really not much else you can do but post great stuff that could go viral. Are you tied to a niche and want targeted followers or does it not matter to you? If the latter, then go for humorous quotes or memes, these usually do well. Or look for pics on Facebook that got a lot of comments, these tend to go viral as well.

Apart from that, there are a few "pinterest bots" out there but these usually only allow you to randomly follow lots of people in the hopes of having them follow you back. Do the accounts with millions of followers you referred to also follow hundreds of thousands of others? If so they might have been using software to achive their high follower count.

I agree with WFAlex - getting genuine people to reach your Pinterest requires work, a lot of interaction with other accounts to get your name out. Obviously having appealing stuff in your own account helps...

You really DO need to dedicate some time to your account. Like in any social network.

Stop trying to copycat others just for the sake of gaining followers. Discover the joy in sharing your own genuine passions. Real people want to follow other real people that they feel a connection with.

You are caught up too much in thinking about gaining massive traffic quickly. It's not going to work.

Spend the time to build up your own following by pinning stuff you really care about. It's going to require lots of dedication and time.

WFAlex, I am actually not tied to any specific niche at the moment (maybe I will expand or change my niche later)- just want to get followers now.

These successful pinners follow only few hundreds at most. Actually you encounter those pinners when you join Pinterest when it asks about your interests, so you autofollow a handful of them depending on your interests.

I also tried following other people with a purpose of getting follow back, but i gained only 1-3% of users to follow me back - so don't see any big value in this strategy.

Fun to Write, I don't mind hard work and I am not hoping for super quick success, I just don't want to do what doesn't work. Also, I have a commercial Pinterest account at the moment (not my personal) - do you think it is better to go with my own personal account and honest description about myself so people could connect me via other social media - like Facebook etc.? I have seen some successful brands with million following, but it seemed to me that personal accounts gain more followers - is it only my observation or it can be true?

Jackson Tan, basically Pinterest is a collection of pictures - pictures of everything in your life - animals, food, clothing, physical products etc. I am not good at Pinterest at the moment, but it seems for me that it is a good platform for physical products (simply because there is an image of a product).

Pinterest seems to me also like jungle I don't understand how to walk through

I'm planning to start a travel blog, I'm pretty good in photography (I would say better than 99.9% people) so I have stuff that people like, but how the hell they gonna see it if nobody follows me at the start thus nobody can repin the image and I can't gain new followers.

    Chicken or egg paradox.

I would agree 100% with what Fun To Write said. I would also advise backlinks to your Pinterest through other social media. Think of it as an overall campaign through various media, rather than 1 medium. I bounced people from my Twitter to my Facebook page, for example, with links to engaging content on the page.

There are people who will repin your stuff on Fiverr. Usually 5 pins for $5.

Make sure they have enough followers. You will need to invest in some of these before you start to see some tracktion. Use your best photos for these pins, and make sure you have several pins already when you start promoting them.

I did this myself and am now at 1200 followers. It grows by 10 each day now (1 %) even without logging in to pinterest. I make sure to follow everyone who follows me, and to repin as much as I add new content.
