Very simple to use and create a professional looking ebook, with clickable links in it too.

OpenOffice all the way. Just create the document and export as PDF. 100% free solution and I use it for all my PDFs.

Good value if you are producing a fair number each month but for the odd one here or there I would use fiverr

Definately Openoffice! It opens word files too and you can insert hyperlinks. Word doesn't neccessarily have the function to convert to pdf unless you install an update or something. There are also lots of sites that convert for free online if you don't want to install anything.

If you want something lightweight, try nitropdf, the free version. But it won't convert your hyperlinks unfortunately.

  I have found that if I don't hit enter after adding a hyperlink it doesn't always become clickable, so that is good to check (and always test the hyperlinks to be sure that they go to the page you wish as well and don't have an error).

Yes. You can download a free version of Primo PDF Maker. Simply drag the word doc over to the software and it instantly turns it into a PDF file. Easy to use.

For live hyperlinks you have to include the whole http URL address. If the URL is too long you can shorten it by using Tinyurl.com
