How Do I To Get A Really GREAT Testimonial?
Here is what you do. First, EVERYONE knows someone who knows of someone who can know someone who is famous. Not just famous, BUT respected. Like a police officer, firefighter, community leader etc. . .
I first ask myself, WHO do I know? I know a great many people in Edmonton, and I have a contact (She is like my second mother) who knows a great many people. Some are famous, and some are highly respected, others have positions of power. Okay, you are thinking.. BUT I DON'T KNOW ANYONE LIKE THAT.
That is being negative, THINK HARD. You know someone who has access to someone, and who in turn can introduce you to a person that has what you are looking for.
I phone my list, and I poll them. Quite simply, you will never know until you try. Yes, I actually pick up the phone and ask one of my contacts, "Can you get me a meeting with so and so?" What can happen? I could be told yes or no.
In most cases, I get, "No problem Andrew, let me make a call and see if they can lend a hand." You see, these people who know people. . . They are usually close friends, and close friends will do favors. Getting an audience is not difficult. It's the convincing part that could get tricky.
I get my appointment, I ENGAGE THEM, in deep conversation, and I take a genuine interest in them. NEVER, do I just blurt out, "I would like to get a testimonial from you." They even know I am there for that. The key is to build the quickest bridge that you can.
Once I have determined the bridge is built, I swing the conversation over to what I need, and how I can then help them in return. Usually, they want nothing in return. If they like what I have done, they back it. Now remember, they also have to like you.
Use Charisma When: The other person is the same.
Be warned though, if they are an introvert. . . MIRROR THEM. Be enthusiastic, BUT do not be so aggressive that you scare the crap out of them.
Mirroring people is very powerful, once you learn how to do this, offline convincing becomes easier.

Okay, So you have built the bridge, now close the deal. Explain what you have, USE F/B. You still need to build desire. If they don't desire your product, they won't want to try it.
Leave the product with them. Don't show up with your video camera. . . Give them time to use it. Be sure though to ask,"Would Tuesday, be good to call you, or is Thursday better?" Always give two choices.
PLEASE, subsitute your days.. don't just use mine. . .
They will let you know the day to call, and make sure you do just that.
When you call them back, DO NOT ASK, "How was it?" Again, engage them and take a real interest in this person who just gave you their valuable time.
Usually, they will just tell you what they think, and then invite you over with your camera. . .
Points to remember.
1. Everyone knows someone who knows someone with NAME. Is it three people away from knowing someone? That's what I have always been taught. The more I think of this, the more it seems to be solid. Example:
My wife's friend knows the Premier of Alberta. (Heck, my wife freakin knows him. . .Yeesh) (He in turn knows our PM. I know a lady who dated Glenn Anderson. . . and I once spent several hours speaking with another Hockey Legend who made me laugh for hours. Do you see how this works? NOT JUST FOR ME. For everyone. Another friend of mine, connected me with a great contract once. . .(I'll tell you his name another day)
2. Build the bridge. You are not just there to use their name, you are there to make a new friend. . . BECAUSE, that person has a HUGE network of people that you can connect with. Like minded people stick together. If they like you, they will connect you.
3. Make sure you build desire. This is where you need to know about OFFLINE selling. It is not quite the same. You need to know about body language, mirroring, AND you have TWO EARS and one mouth. Do twice as much listening as talking.
4. Be well groomed, PLEASE. Make sure you look successful and smell like a rose.
Well, that's it. Now please remember this. A loser says, "I don't know." A winner says, "Let's Go Find Out." You never know until you try.

P.S. I really don't want to hear that you can't do this. The fact is, YOU CAN DO THIS. I just KNOW YOU CAN. Go get a pen and start making your list. Then call them and ask, "Do you know anyone famous, or in a position of power? Respect? Etc.... Go Get Em Tiger.
