Default RSS Feeds and RSSMix.com

Hey guys,

I've been reading that a good way of obtaining some backlinks is to mix your RSS feeds at a place like RSSMix.com

For example, lets say I had a Squidoo account and an Ezine Articles Author account. I could take the two feeds and "mix" them and then submit the combined feed to RSS directories like feedage.com and others..

What I'm curious to find out is what to do in the following hypothetical situation;

1. I decide it would be great to mix my Squidoo and Ezine RSS feeds so I head on over to RSSMix.com and mix the two together.

2. I then decide to submit the new RSS feed to various RSS directories manually or via Big Mikes RSS bot.

3. I then decide that I want to venture into video marketing and make a Youtube account and submit a few videos.

If I then wanted to also include my Youtube feed mixed in with the others would I then just repeat steps 1 and 2 again?

Even though the new 'mix' will be slightly different with the Youtube feed added into it, will it be detrimental to submit the new feed considering I've already submitted one with the Squidoo and Ezine feeds?

Cheers.

While not a direct answer to your question, I recommend (and teach) combining all your pheeds, then adding them to all the resources in your network that you can.

As you create more stuff, or update old, using a combined pheed lets you "update" your entire network by simply updating your own "super pheed". And you can use your own stuff to supplement content on other pages/blogs, etc.

As far as your question, how comfortable are you with a little spamming? This is really something you need to address yourself. Personally, if the super pheed is mostly different than other pheeds, I'd have no problem submitting it. However, many others will disagree, while still others try to make as many RSS pheeds as possible and submit them all.

Hey Kurt,

Hmm.. I'm not really looking to spam anyone.

Would it be a better option to combine all the pheeds () of the main properties that I would be using, i.e - Squidoo, Ezine, Youtube, a blog, etc at the beginning?

Is that what you mean by 'super feed'?

If no, how would I go about creating a 'super feed'?

I'm looking for the most efficient way to get my feeds out there whilst not taking up too much time..

Hi Pat...

"Spamming" is really a subjective term. I have no problem submitting and pinging a "super pheed", which combines all of my pheeds related to a particular niche. And I teach more "aggressive" methods in my BombSquad.

I believe www.Feedburner.com allows you to combine different pheeds into one main feed. Note that Google owns FeedBurner, so for privacy issues you may not want to use them.

RSS Mix - Mix any number of RSS feeds into one unique new feed! - RSSMix also allows "mixing" of RSS pheeds.

My Blogbomb script (part of BombSquad membership) also allows you to combine RSS pheeds into a single pheed, if you want to "own the situation" and have complete control.

Again, I believe you should combine all your RSS pheeds and use this pheed on all your resources. I'll go so far as to suggest that you focus on third party resources that export in RSS, just for this purpose.

RSS is more than just giving and getting content. It is immensely useful for managing a huge network of blogs and sites as well as "re-purposing" content.

With a little planning, you can set up tons of social sites like Twitter and Facebook, and if you update one, you update them all automatically via RSS.

Your competition makes one post on a blog and their blog is updated. You do the same thing on your blog, but 20-30 OTHER resources are also updated. Same effort, yet you have 30X the exposure and reach.

Not only that, but if you update ANY of your 30 (or so) resources, such as your blog or FaceBook, all of your OTHER network resources are also updated automatically.

This is the REAL power of RSS.
