Website Flipping Experts - PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi Warriors,

Need some help to understand the process that happens AFTER one sells his/her site

Note - I currently host all my sites on Hostgator using their Baby Plan and my domain registrar is Godaddy

As far as I understand, this is the procedure to be followed

1. Ask the buyer for his nameservers, change it in my Godaddy account and then "push" the domain name to his account

2. Download all files via FTP, zip it and send it to him for uploading

Is that all there is to it?

Also, what happens if I offer to host the sold sites for Free for 1 year...do I simply "push" the domain name to his account and then repeat Steps 1 and 2 after a year?

I've also heard it's easier to do this with a separate reseller account..any ide how that works?

You have correctly figured the site transferring process. Yes, if you are offering to host the sites for them then you just need to push the domain name and transfer the files when your client asks for it or when the free hosting tenure is concluded.

It is recommended to have a reseller account because you can assign a separate cpanel account to each website which comes in handy when you are offering free hosting because your buyer will ask for cpanel access and I would not feel comfortable allowing access to my cpanel where I have more than one site hosted which is the case with a baby plan, assuming you are hosting more than one site there. With a reseller account you can just push the domain and forward the cpanel details to your buyer.

Thanks...this sounds much easier to do and more convenient as well...however, if I go with this option and the buyer still wants to use his/her own hosting, then I need to transfer the files as per the procedure right?

I always install the site for a customer. Instructions here:

If you have each site on a reseller account, you just give them the login info to their cpanel. You either provide free hosting or charge them for hosting or give them a certain amount of time to move the site to their own hosting, whichever you prefer.

I use HostGator's 50GB reseller plan & recomment it as well. Didn't have any problems with them

dont forget to give the database too (or at least db backup from your wp, if you're using one), can backup your database from phpmyadmin in your cpanel, or using db backup plugin for wp sites.

reseller account is recommended, you can give free host, and/or take monthly fee if they agree after
