Got .com EMD, has 100's of millions of searches

I have just bought my first domain. (Premium domain). It's a .com EMD. On google ad words tool, it has 100's of millions of searches.
1) Are those searches for past month or year?
2) Am I onto a good thing?

I was thinking of selling a 5 page report for $1, answering the question. The search is a question. I'm an expert in that area. Also, my approach is very unique. I could start with ad words, facebook, Twitter, linked in. In 6 months the SEO will get me on top of left side of google. Am I correct?
Total newbie here.

Going to take more then an EMD to rank a term with hundreds of millions of searches. I can only imagine what sites are already rank for such a heavily search term

Did you pay a premium price for this domain?

Your post tends to imply that you did, and that worries me because these are the sort of questions that should have been asked before spending a bunch of money on a premium domain name.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

      Dee100,

No, you are not correct. There is nothing that will guarantee that you get to the top of the left hand search results, whether 6 months, a year, or six years.

If you're talking about a broad match search (even though you may have an EMD), the results quoted are not a good indicator of the amount of potential traffic you can expect. Broad match searches could have nothing to do with the question asked in your domain name.

Type in your domain name surrounded by quotes into the Google search bar and see how many SERPs it shows. Somewhat less than "100's of millions" right?

EMDs aren't what they used to be, going to be a lot of work, but good job on getting a decent domain.
