Yea for sure, as long as it's a generic name and not some made up name

Thanks for the reply. If it is a fairly uncommon name but .com, still worth buying?

Doesn't matter if it's .google, if it's not a common name. If it was worth anything more then the reg fee, domainers would have already picked it up

Well, depends on who wants one and how much they'll pay for it. I personally wouldn't want one.

Really depends on how you plan to use it. I would never pass on a common first name. When you google it how many results show up? I would definitely buy it for reg fee.

It is not very common. About 100k results in Google. Is that good or bad?

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin named their daughter Apple.

That one could be worth something.

Nah. Who would want to name their business after a fruit?

Not too much value I suppose, because its not a product or business related thing. I think its only for few peope out there who want to acquire them for themselves, not that great for business.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, there are many businesses named after first names, such as George.com, Anthony.com, Alexa.com, Emma.com, Fred.com etc.

They can be used for practically anything. Just wondering ...

Yes indeed ... for practically anything. Easily brandable, and if not that, they can always be sold for good money anyway.

If "alexa.com" didn't exist in the form of the company who own it, the domain would perhaps belong to someone like Alexa Chung, or some other multi-millionaire? (I still wouldn't be able to get it, damn it: I can't even get alexasmith.com ).

Whether they're profitable depends, obviously, on what you pay for them in the first place, and on your skills at marketing them (as is true for any other domain-name). But you'll always be able to sell them, clearly. I deal in domain-names a little (have bought and sold probably a couple of hundred over the last 4 years - well, actually, have bought more than I've sold! ) and if I could snap up almost any firstname.com domain for a low price, I'd be right in there.

They must be way out of my price-range, though.

If you think trying to register alexasmith as a domain is hard try doing anything with the name Jon Jones. More common than John Smith--I'm frequently asked what my real name is.

Actually, the less popular ones can't really sell for much. I just saw one go for $7 on eBay.

The domain price is worth what the buyer is willing to pay.

If you can find a popular person who are willing to pay for the domain, then it will be great.

Ever notice that people who spend money on WSO, memberships and courses, are always complaining about being broke and not making any money ?

They should have bought ASSETS instead.
