For those who missed the point... Note the 3 o's. Phishers often use this sort of trick.

Another common one is using sub-domains to make you think you're going to the real site. That might look like:

    example.com-support-ticket1723.biz/respondtoclaim

You can easily glance at it and think the link leads to example.com, when it really goes to com-support-ticket1723.biz.

Your recognition skills took over. Scammers count on that. You see what you expect to see, rather than what's there. Once that's happened, all your associations with what you expected take over, and you act as though the expectation is reality.

Mental shortcuts can be handy, but they can also lead you into a lot of blind alleys.

There is something else on Facebook that might create problems if you ever run into it. I saw a post on someones Facebook site something like, "Hey I saw that embarrassing video you did. Here it is again (website link)" So I clicked on the website curious and the next day I sent a slight alteration of the message with a link to all of my friends on Facebook. I got cussed out a few times because it went to the last interaction the friend did on their Facebook page. My advice do not click on the links out of curiosity. A bunch of my friends ended up doing the same message back to me and it kept spreading. I still see it on peoples profiles all the time.

The brain works the same way with vision--your eyes don't actually 'see' everything, your memory fills in the gaps, which is why you can be looking for something ( keys are most often what it is for me ) look right at it, and not see it, because you have made yourself to expect to not see them, since you are looking for them.

and don't click on links that come from somewhere you are not sure of
