Make Money on Youtube? That's a lie...isn't it?

A while back South Park had an episode that the four kids wanted to get rich from Youtube. So they had Butters make that "What what in the Butt" video. Turns out that the Million dollars that they made is hypothetical money from all the hits they have on the video. My question is, how in the heck is it possible to make money with Youtube? Just by posting a video is not going to earn you money...right? I am not really interested to make money with Youtube. I am just curious.

    Youtube is just a way to get traffic to your site. Your site will be the one to make money.

    There are many ways, and also it depends on how you look at it.

    I could say that I've made $100k from Youtube.

    But in my case what I would mean is that I've used video on Youtube to drive traffic to my websites and converted those visitors into sales of $100k.

    So, without the product and conversions the videos would have been useless.

    So I think that when most people refer to making money from Youtube they're doing the same in one way or another and monetising the traffic.

    If you do not see the connection, you have not fully started to understand internet marketing from a 'content = traffic' perspective yet...

    The simple fact is that if you put a video on YouTube or any other video site, and link to your site from the description or as a watermark (link on video) and you give out good content, you can make money off the traffic from youtube... YouTube won't pay you, although I have friends who do, but the sales you generate from the traffic from YouTube is the money they are talking about in IM terms.

    Start doing push-ups in front of the camera and tell people you are doing a 'muscle building program', link to a re-direct domain name and you'll see what happens
