Paypal payments holding question

Hi there,

3 months ago ,when i've created my first paypal payment button , they told me that the payments that i'll receive will be hold for 30 days because i have a new merchant account & they will do so till i have a succesfull transactions history with Paypal !

Then ,i've aborted that project so till now i've never received any payment through paypal .

Now i want to sell a service to a client and he'll pay me by paypal . My question is :
If i send him an invoice , can paypal hold that money ? i mean is that related to the merchant account ?

Or should i just tell him to send me the money through my paypal address (even if it seems less professional ) ?

Thanks,

  • Slim,

There should not be a hold on the funds if someone pays you directly through your email to a personal account. Typically PayPal puts these restrictions on accounts when you are selling a tangible product to a customer.

Depending on where you are using Paypal, funds are usually released within 30 days. Or in the case of eBay, they will release funds after positive feedback is left by the seller.

    Here is their policy,

    Hope that helps,
