Default Dlguard question

Hi All,

I have a quick question about DLGuard. Their contact page is actually down

So I am involved in a project that DLguard sounds like a perfect fit, but I need clarification on a particular area.

So user A makes a purchase of product X. They go to the payment page, complete the payment, and are directed off to a unique URL landing page (may be setup for xx hours or x uses). On this page are a series of potential downloads (videos).

Does DlGuard make it so each download is encrypted as a part of that page?

So lets say the user has the ability to download up to 4 videos (mp4, wmv, etc..)...will each one of those have unique URL's tied to them so the direct links to them can't just be copied/pasted and shared around?

Let me know.

Thanks,
Bryan

So within DLGuard, what exactly is the process for this example.

Is it something like

Create new Product page (lets call it Video Module #1). Video Module #1 may allow 3-4 videos, with 3 variations each (mp4, wmv, flv).

Example:

#1 - Video #1 (screenshot, description)
- FLV download
- WMV download
- Mp4 download

#2 - Video #2 (screenshot, description)
- FLV Download link
- WMV Download link
- MP4 download link

#3 - Video #3 (screenshot, description)
- FLV Download link
- WMV download link
- MP4 download link

So all 3 videos (with their variations) would appear on this 1 encrypted page, and each one of these links could be encrypted as well. Is that correct?

In order to encrypt each file type, do those need to be added as "downloads" from within the DLGuard product setup? So I would be adding 9 videos within the setup.

Videos #1, #2, and #3 may just have a screenshot of each, with the 3 variation download links under each one.

Make sense?

Thanks

Hi Bryan,

I haven't had much time recently to hang out here, but I'm here every day, even if I don't post

Yes, Jeff is exactly right!

I assume you wanted to offer the vids for download, not for online playing?

cheers
Sam

Well, it would be "nice" to actually have a flash player playing an FLV right then and there, but offering the downloads is perfectly fine.

We just want to make sure the downloads themselves are secure and can't have the shortcut link sent to xyz people to share.

Hi Bryan,

You can use a Flash player on your download page, no worries at all. For the video link inside the flash player (ie. the URL to your video file), you can just set to DLGuard's download link, and this will protect the real location of the video file.

So you can do either or both:

- Play the video directly on the download page
- Offer download links for your videos

And yes, the downloads themselves will be secure so people can't just copy the link and pass it around to the world.

Once the timer runs out (you can pick the number of hours), the video links will become inactive.

Does all this make sense?

cheers
Sam

Hi Sam,

Is there a particular ecommerce system that works best with DLGuard. Would 1ShoppingCart do just fine, or is there something else that integrates better?

Thanks,
Bryan

This is for anyone who uses DLGuard.

So lets say I use the example up above where I have 9 videos. According to what was said, I would "sell" 1 video, and have 8 bonus videos associated.

So if that 1 video is considered a single purchase. upon buying it, the user gets sent to the download page. I assume they can get an email giving them the download link.

What if, though, the user puts multiple things in the ecommerce shopping cart.

Maybe they purchased "3" videos where each purchase comes with its own sets of bonus videos. Would they get 3 emails with 3 separate download links? How would that work?
