How to Get Traffic From Wikipedia

Does anyone know of a course that teaches how to get links from wikipedia? I know the links are nofollowed, but I'm interested in it for traffic and I also know there are other search engine benefits from getting links from wikipedia.

Can't seem to find anyone that really spells it out clearly.

Write (or hire someone who can) a wikipedia on yourself, your website or whatever it is you are trying to get traffic for. In the references, link to your own sources and mix it up with other third-party sources. Keep it objective. I have done this before. You have to be pretty good though, they'll pull it right out of there if you promote or if it seems fishy at all.

  • Ritika89,

When you do go to put an article out there with links, you may want to have someone else not affiliated with your business/website write it for you. Wikipedia has some pretty strict guidelines about people/entities not writing articles about themselves.

    Rules are outlined here,

Wikipedia:Starting an article - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Hope that helps,

    Shawn

    1) Identify wikipedia page you want a link on
    2) Create content you could link to and put the content on your site. PDFs work well.
    3) Edit the page to link to your content
    4) Get traffic

I'm thinking, the lack of an answer means no.

But thanks Chad, for posting those 5 videos.

Question, you mentioned in the videos about some other video that talks about getting links using images in wikipedia, where is that?

You can often put your link on your user page and then just be active on there. That is one option. I don't think it is worth the effort, though.
