Total Newb 301 redirect migration question

I have a site that is not doing well in rankings at all, there is no manual penalty. I just don't know why Google has placed all the post rankings out in the 300's

If I buy a new domain and migrate the entire site over to it will I be better than before. I will be doing great SEO on the site as I am now.

Problem is, about a year ago maybe earlier I had a shady SEO company do some work on the site. I let it sit blank for about 6 months and this past month I built it up as you would see it now. Pages and post and all the bells and whistles.

I would love to hear some feedback.

Thank you

Your best bet is to focus on long tailed keywords that have decent exact and phrase match search volume with weak front page competition. A lot of SEO companies promise the world but even if your on page 2 your missing 95%+ of the traffic. SEO is complex and I do not recommend you put all your eggs in this basket.

  • Rogersjbr,

Migrating the site to a new domain may be a bit drastic however if the work that the SEO company performed was very damaging, it may be easier to start over. There is SEO work that can be changed more easily than other tasks. For example if the shady company did some poor onsite stuff, that is easy enough to change. If however they built many spammy backlinks, that could be much more difficult to undo.

I know you said your site wasn’t manually penalized but maybe you can find some ideas to re-rank your site here,

    Hope that helps,

Thank you for the info Shawn I will have a look.

The site is Jason B. Rogers | Learn Affiliate Marketing With An Expert Last month I migrated a about 40% of the content from a site I completely wiped off the web.

The post are not ranking well at all. Like in the 300's for the main keyword.

I am wondering if the site is temporarily slapped since it just had a major update of content and theme or if I need to hire a company to do some off page SEO.

      Thank you
