Link Tracking, Purchases

Hey guys

Im about to start a joint venture with a close friend who is a music producer - we will be selling audio sample packs for music production.

I know the audience well, and have a clear idea of how to present the offer / handle the digital delivery. One thing Im not too sure about is tracking the inbound links so I can gauge which promotion channel is most succesful.

For instance, if Im undertaking forum promo, Youtube marketing, Twitter, FB etc. I'd like to know which traffic source is converting. Is there a simple solution for creating a tracking ID like Clickbank uses?

I look forward to hearing your feedback on this

The easiest way is to create a landing page for each type of promotion.

Interesting approach - and one I'll consider if I can't find an alternative. I would like something that won't require the creation of that many sub-directories though

They don't need any sub-directories, just a page which you know is only promoted by one activity. You could use a script to let that page show different variations of the offer to test and improve conversions but it only needs to be one page on any part of the site, including the main domain - no sub domains needed.
