Is This Allowed for Websites?

I am creating a site for a friend. He doesn't have money to have content written for him but needs to make his blog look more "full".

Are you allowed to copy and paste other sites articles if you link back to them and give them full credit for it?

    Don't do that you will be wasting your time.

    Take the time to provide useful content.

    You may surprise yourself and make a few bucks. Who knew

    There is a high failure rate in IM because newbies do stuff like this, and expect to make money.

    In 2005 if you had a link back to the article it was ok, now definitely no!

    Just do it right, or not at all!

    No your not allowed to do that. Thats copyright infringement. The law says you cant use something other people created without there permission. Not you can use it without there permission if you give them credit.

    Thats like me saying am I allowed to produce a Steven King book and sell it so long as I say it was him who wrote it

    Unless you get permission from the original site owner, copying and pasting their content is theft.

    Linking back to their site and 'giving them credit' just tells everybody who and where you stole from.

    Ok, just making sure. Kind of weird how big news stations do that though. Yes my last site I did, all the content was hand written myself and worked out good. Was his idea not mine. Thanks for the info.

    OK, you can go to reprint article directories and add their articles if, and only if, you add the entire article and the writer's resource box. The resource box gives the writer a backlink.

    However, it would be better if your friend learns how to write articles, or if he starts saving money to hire an article writer. Having good and unique content not only makes Google love you more, but your readers will also like you better.

    You can do that with content from some sites like ezinearticles.com. They are made to provide that sort of content. You do have to follow their requirements, keeping the author's resource box intact, and a link back to ezinearticles too. It gets the sort of job you are asking about done. I've used their content on sites.

      You don't want to copy the entire article, but they will appreciate it if you copy some and link back to their website.

        Er, says who? I'd be pretty narked if someone used some of my content without asking and thought adding a link on their nowhere blog was acceptable payment.

    Thanks Kimbo and LLoyd, I was thinking of something like that. And I do agree that unique content is King. I would know, seeing my 6 month old site was starting to rank for difficult keywords with no off page seo. But the point of the site isn't to gain traffic with seo.

    @Mav - If you are just looking to add articles regardless of uniqueness, you can certainly get them from article directories such as EzineArticles and use them providing you include the full resource/bio box with the links back to the authors site/s intact.

    Don't do this right when you are about to start a new website... Try to write the content even if they it is small. You take a bit of articles from other websites later when your site is established well.

    No, unless they give you permission to do that. It's copyright infringement and they can send a DMCA to your host and get it taken down. Your host won't like that if it happens too often.
