Hi! . I wrote several fiction novels and I want to sell them on kindle Amazon.
I need high quality ecovers for my books, something that will stand out.

Can you recommend someone?
Thanks.

You have a few options here.

1 - Design one yourself if you have the talent. I've made a few with Gimp and have recently created a template in Microsoft Publisher that simplifies Kindle (and B&N, Smashwords, iBookStore and Writers Life) cover creation.

2 - Look at the Warriors for Hire or try Fiverr - lots of cover gigs there. Make sure you read Amazon's updated specs for the cover size as they changed earlier this year.

3 - Diana Heuser has made a number of covers for people in the Kindle section of this forum and has done some very nice work. You might try contacting her (WF user name DianaHeuser) and see if she's available.

Check out fiverr.com. I got some great graphics. Choose carefully; can't be beat for value, product can be variable. Def worth a look.

These are all good suggestions. Here are some issues to consider, as you consider your options:

Research your niche/genre and see what is selling successfully It may not be what you think.

For instance everyone seems to want to put a couple on a romance cover. However, currently in some romance niches , the bestsellers do not have people on the covers. Hmmmmm.

Make sure the covers look good on a B&W kindle. That means that in a grayscale thumbnail 87 Pixels wide, you should be able to read the TITLE and the AUTHOR NAME.

Also, book covers should be flat images, not the IM 3-d look, in most instances.

One more point - make sure the service you're using has the rights to the graphic. This has been a problem with some of the fiverr providers.

      Rose has an excellent point.

I purchase the images myself. If someone else is working for me, I provide the images.

I write fiction and use Scrivener. I have created a Scrivener template for book Series that keeps everything together in one Scrivener project. Because image license rights vary so much, I have a folder in my Scrivener project where I keep a thumbnail of the purchase image as a reference, a copy and paste of the license, and the information on the artist to include in my book credits.

If you write fiction, Scrivener is your friend...

Definitely don't use Fiverr unless you purchase and supply the images used in the cover, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having someone else create a creative cover for you though.

Thanks a lot for your answers. I difenetly do not want to use Fiverr. I do not want to go cheap on ebook cover. Does it matter to get absolutely unique design or it is OK to use stock images for design.

Unique book cover and stock images are two totally different issues.

Most unique book covers use stock images in one way or another... The key is to present the stock image(s) in a different and unique way ;-)

Why not check out a service like 99Designs.com? I've had excellent experiences with them!

It's going to cost about $300, but you're going to get a MUCH better product than what you would on Fiverr.

At least check it out if you haven't already. $300 isn't much considering how much influence a cover has on whether the customer buys or not.

I've used Fiverr on a couple of occasions and had some really nice ecovers designed. The two sellers I used were:

Outstanding eCover for Kindle or Average?

For Outstanding, expect to pay at least $125.00 - $225.00 from a professional graphic designer, not just a graphic"s" designer. (in you were to go to an actual graphic design firm, expect to pay at least $500 to $1200)

For Average, maybe some of the people mentioned above in this thread?

No offence meant, just being honest and looking at this from a professional designers point of view, not just someone who owns and uses photoshop to make extra money designing graphics for Internet Marketers.

Professional book cover designing has traditionally been done by trained graphic designers, who are skilled at typography, design and layout, using not only Adobe Photoshop, but Adobe Indesign. And what they charge for their design skills traditionally is much higher than what you'll find on this forum for the most part. But the skill level is usually lots higher also.

      Pffft Steve :p,

And sometimes you get outstanding quality for a really good price. Don't determine a designer's worth by their price.

Sometimes they use the low price as a loss leader for future business

As my American friends would say "Jus' sayin is all"

Well now, when you are talkin bout folks what make graphics, two of them folks come right to mind... Diana Heuser and Karl Warren!

Now Di Heuser (she likes to be called Di cause she don't like to be called E, F or G) is good at just about anythin she does. I know for a fact that, not only does she do mighty fine bookcovers, BUT she is good at feedin chickens, sloppin the hogs and brandin the cows. I am thinkin she got all that experience from livin out in the jungles of South Africa.

Karl Warren is a mighty fine graphics person what lives way over there in the United Kingdom! I am just itchin to go over there and discuss graphics with Karl over tea and crumpets or fish and chips. Quite honestly I ain't never figured out what fish has to do with gamblin but I'm game!

You cain't go wrong by hirin either one a those folks. BTW, they is all official residents of Stumpwoody Holler so you KNOW they gots to be good folks!

      Ya'll take care now!

      Hey Kristine,
I´m a tad confused with your signature... you have a 6 figures business and design covers?

That´s awesome! I didn´t know you could scale like that.

        Aloha Sandra,

        Thanks!

I am Published Author, Online Business and Marketing Coach and a Graphics Designer/Visual Artist. I design covers because graphics design/visual arts are my passions in life. I don't outsource it even if that's the best way to go. I'd rather see my own designs in my own books and product launches
