Any Hosting Expert Here? Unmanaged, Linode

Hey Guys,

I am in trouble, mainly because of no experience with unmanaged hosting. I've purchased a site and it was hosted with Linode. The problem is there's this another company called EndPoint who are not responsive. Apparently, the old owner used them for setting up the server and configuring the site.

What can I do now? I have Wordpress admin access and FTP access. I'd want to keep with Linode as they respond within hours of opening ticket. But how is it possible to manage the Linode myself? What can i do to get EndPoint out of this?

I asked Linode guys if I can host other sites and they said most welcome. But I do not know how to host it there. I've been using cPanel and managed hosting since years and unmanaged is new to me. Seriously confused, please guide.

sounds like you are hosting with a reseller that hosts with linode. if you want to leave the re-seller your only option would be to setup a new vps plan with linode. then purchase cpanel from a 3rd party like www.cpaneldirect.net because they do not sell cpanel. i am not exactly sure if linode is managed or unmanaged. if they are unmanaged your on your own or need to hire an admin or use an outsourcing company like Outsourced Web Hosting Support, Technical Support Outsourcing, Server Management, Helpdesk Support, Cloud Services to manage it.

other option would be to find a managed hosting company that will transfer your site for free and take care of any technical problems.

I'd explain what you said here to Linode and if they can't hold your hand through it, go to a managed company. It's either that or learn how to admin, really.

Even if you get over this bump there will be something come up where you will need to do basic Linux sys admin. A *managed* hosting company will be a phone call/email/chat/text away and will help you transfer it over.

From looking at their services they seem to cater to those that actually want to sys admin and geek out...
