The single most important thing in making money online is actually CARING ABOUT PEOPLE. If you do that, you will stand out higher than others that are just out to make a quick buck. Those guys don't last. The people who actually CARE ENOUGH to produce QUALITY last a looooong time. It's all about leaving a LEGACY.

Persistance. It's easy to give up after 1 year of marketing and you've only made $50 for the whole year. Keep going, keep marketing, remove things that aren't making you profitable, and replace them with more profitable strategies.

Yes they say the money is in the list but it is really as you say only in the relationship that you build with your list. They are looking for leadership from you and you can do this by providing them good information.

A lot of people do not really know how the entire IM thing works. Just as we are all have been newbies once, we are so impatient and we always want to get stuff fast without the further hassle of signups. Just be patient and explain to them why it is necessary.

Being Unique can Brand yourself well but it will boil down to Giving Viewers what they want. Give them what they want, sharing that info/service becomes easier and sharing = more traffic and more traffic = $$$$$$

In reality the single most important thing in internet marketing is going to vary from person to person depending on their specific goals and their currently level of accomplishment.
