Singapore Amazon Assoc member? Help me on check clearing..

Hi,
Anyone from Singapore geting check from amazon?

Payee name printed on check is "PAYEE NAME (ASSOC_ID)".

I tried to bank the check in Citibank, but it's being rejected becoz of the (ASSOC_ID) printed at the end of Payee Name on the check. (Amazon not able to not print the (ASSOC_ID))

I only faced this problem last 3 months..previously was ok.

Q: Which bank u bank in the Amazon check for clearing in Singapore?
and what the clearing fee? (Citibank charge $0 fee)

Thanks

How annoying! I'm really surprised to hear that, though. Have you tried taking it up at a higher level in the bank, i.e. with a regional manager or customer relations department, rather than just with staff in your own branch of the bank? It seems an extraordinary policy, to me.

Alternatively, might it help to open a separate business account at the same bank, as a sole trader, such as "Yourname doing business as Your-assoc-id"? Surely this would enable them to clear checks made payable to "Yourname (assoc-id)"?

Without starting off this way, and without trying to make it sound like a threat, for myself I'd want to be making it clear at some point to a "responsible, decision-making officer" of the bank (i.e. not a teller or counter-clerk) that if they genuinely can't and won't find a way for me to pay in those checks, they'll obviously be losing my custom. I'd also - if necessary - be asking them for a written letter (not just an email, and definitely not just a verbal conversation) explaining why they're unwilling to do this, even to the point of apparently preferring to lose a customer.

Banks can be particularly awkward to deal with. For what it's worth, I've found that being polite but very firm, clear and persistent with them can sometimes achieve desired outcomes.

Actually for the last 2 years i don't have this check clearing prob (even with AssocID printed at the end of payee name), only this last 3 mths i facing this prob. The bank officer did give last 3 times exceptional case and approved for the check clearing but after that they said "NO more".

Currently no extra fund to open a company just for amazon check

May try to talk to higher office next week. Thanks

"Banks"!! It's not enough that they screw up the global economy: they have to make it hard for people to do business, as well ...

I hear you. It varies from country to country, I think. Over here we don't have to open a company to get a business account, we can be a "sole trader", like "Dexie trading as Affil-ID" or whatever. No company needed.

    .
Ever notice that people who spend money on WSO, memberships and courses, are always complaining about being broke and not making any money ?

They should have bought ASSETS instead.

Have you considered Payoneer as a payment option? I heard that Amazon now allows US payment transfer for non-US citizens although for a while recently they didn't.

I asked Amazon and got their reply on Nov 26, 2012:

In order to qualify for the direct deposit of your Associates earnings, all three of the following conditions must be met:
      1) your payee address must be in the United States
      2) your bank must be a United States Financial Institution
      3) you must have a U.S. tax ID number or a Social Security number.

"I heard that Amazon now allows US payment transfer for non-US citizens although for a while recently they didn't." - when did you find that info ?

          No, I'm from Vietnam.

My last check I received in March 2012 (after that my checks got lost), and only my name printed on check.

I asked one of my friends living in Singapore to receive Amazon checks for me...hope that everything is ok when clearing them.
