Non-US alternatives to PayPal

Hi all,

I'm looking to expand next year and that will hopefully mean accepting a lot more orders. At the moment, I do not use PayPal, due mainly to the fact I do not have a Mastercard and cannot verify my account without one (I don't want to pay the fee for one at the bank, I have a Maestro, which they don't accept as verification).

Instead, I use Moneybookers (now Skrill). Which is fine, except for the fact it's not widely used. Luckily for me, my main clients all had previous accounts with them, so that was easy. However, it won't always be as such. What I'm really looking for is a payment gateway that allows me to request payment, via email, from whatever means the customer wants to use. I have found a couple of good examples, but here comes my main problem: I'm based in Hungary.

What this means is that, for all these processors, with their US based accounts, I would simply be paying what I would if I asked for a direct transfer to my bank. So, I need someone who has a Hungarian account (like PayPal or Moneybookers do).

So, does anyone know of any global payment processors out there or have they all been swallowed up by the beast that is PayPal?

Thanks in advance

You know that PayPal takes something like a few cents to a dollar, it's not much, and pretty sure it's paid back to you too..
Otherwise maybe you could try Google checkout, that seems like a decent equivalent with similar rates, but I've not registered there myself so I don't know their verification process. Hope that's helpful.

Unfortunately, without verification, PayPal will not let me withdraw more than 21,000 HUF a month (about $100), which is not enough, obviously.

I can't remember why I clicked away from Google Checkout, I think it was to do with their lack of information about individual countries. I'll look again.
