Is Google webmasters accurate?

I have got webmasters in my site although some of their data is right with some keywords ranking well. Although its telling me that I have a lot of posts ranking within the first 5 pages. But then I go to check and my listings by surfing and they are no where to be seen on Google it self.

What should I do? My domain is fairly new but why is webmasters telling me different than reality?

Thanks guys

    Forget about it.

No tools are 100% accurate. Use it as a general guide only.

You're probably seeing information collected over numerous data centers.

I agree , no tool is 100% accurate but certain tools are a good guide . Google Webmaster Tools provides a lot of quality information to web owners .

Regarding your experiences , check are you Geo targeting your sites . They may be ranking in a particular country . Are you reading the information correctly ?
Overall I think Webmaster tools provide a great insight on how your site is performing on the web , and how google see it . But as mentioned by the above comment , no tool is 100% accurate or providing real time results .

Yeh I understand, although it's really annoying because its telling me that I have a lot of keywords ranking within the top 2 and 3 pages of Google but there not. I suppose I should keep writing content and build more links.

          Thanks

The data they provide is mostly outdated maybe you were ranking for that keyword in the past and it's showing that this sort of things have happened with me many times.
Check the clicks for the keywords if you are ranked well you ought to get clicks too.

Yeh, I change the date from the 10th of this month to the 12 and it still says its ranking page 2 position 13.

I have had clicks from keywords which are not ranking high too. This is what my Google Analytics is telling me too. Another problem is my Analytics, that is telling me that I have only had 136 unique visits this month but my awstats is telling me I have had over 500.

What is right and whats wrong?

      Thanks

I would go with awstats on that. The more I use GA, the less I trust it. I am now looking for a good alternative to replace it completely.

Yes it's very irritating because I need to know where traffic is coming from and I need to know where my keywords are ranking so I can work on my link building.

It's not accurate, it's just a way to make you more dependent on Google, lol. Neither is Google ANALytics.
