Should I use adsense for my site?

I operate a Photoshop tutorial website. I update the blog fairly consistently, I offer video tutorials and giveaway a lot of freebies.

here's the site: Learn Adobe Photoshop in 10 Minutes - Photoshop tutorials and templates

I also have a few products and have been growing my list since August, I have about 140 subscribers.

My question is should I include Google Adsense ads to my blog posts or would that just piss people off?

I want my site to have an image of being an informative site for graphic designers... not just a plain old monetized site.

what are your thoughts?

My advice would be steer clear of adsense and focus on building your list and offering affiliated/relevant products to them, an adsense click may earn you money short-term but it is a LOST website visitor long-term.

Drive traffic, build your list and recommend/review good quality, related products and services, there are plenty of products related to photoshop you could affiliate with!

Thanks.. That's what I'm leaning towards, avoiding the adsense and focusing more on my own products and affiliate products.

    Hi everyone,

I've got adsence on my site and I think it is OK.

If people don't like it they won't click, so why not.

And extra cash will help you to do a better job.

All the best and see you on top.

    Erwin.

    I would say test it....

Some sites convert well with adsense and others are better with different forms of affiliate products...

I have a site that gets a lot of traffic but they dont buy anything yet they love adsense....

    test test test test

I've been with Adsense 10 years and this year marks the first year I stopped looking at my revenue almost daily and just focusing on selling my own advertising. It is so much more profitable.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

I don't know if it'll piss people off, but I think you should probably avoid AdSense on that site, Robert. You're selling stuff on the site as it is? For myself, I wouldn't want to give visitors additional ways to leave my site (that pay me pennies) rather than staying there. It's kind of hard to argue logically and reasonably when people say "test, test, test", I know (and they're right to say that), but I admit that in this case I wouldn't even test it, myself, because I wouldn't want it there anyway.

I'd agree with Danny definitely. You're in a good niche that Google pays decently through Adsense.

With as many people that have browser add-ons like Ad-Block, some of your traffic isn't going to see Adsense ads anyway so you don't have to worry about turning them off.
Let's face it: having Adsense ads on your site requires zero effort so it's not like it takes away time from other marketing efforts.

If u start converting well, drop Adsense. If you don't convert well, you may find that Adsense revenue is better than zero while you are focusing on figuring out how to convert your traffic to bigger and better paying things.

Ignore the people that have no clue about how much Adsense income you can make as opposed to the magical income you'll make by "building a list and marketing to them." You can make a LOT of money every month from Adsense without selling a damn thing or having any kind of list. I've been doing it for years and have 3 Adsense accounts to make sure it keeps coming in and not stalled by some arbitrary Google decision one day.

BTW, nice site and good niche to be in too. Good luck!

Do you have your own product?? If yes, better don't use adsense.
Adsense will distract your audience from your site.
If you don't have own product, you can make adsense as passive income for your site.
But for me I would rather find out any affiliate product to promote in my site instead of adsense.
Affiliate pay higher commission than adsense.
    Hope this can help....

Earn $1,037.69 in daily is NOT a big amount.
I can show you how to do this.

I personally don't use Adsense. I just feel like it detracts from what I want people to get from my blog. I think that giving away content is a great idea and something that I think more people should do. You don't need to monetize everything on a blog...just provide valuable content.

    Just my two cents!!

Unless your selling something than yes, you MUST have advertisement. or how are you going to make any money for your time....

One key thing is to make the advertisement not annoying. and fit in with your site or at least not be in the way.. never first always on the side or bottom.

can Ads be irritating it depends upon where you put them just place in somewhere which doesn't distract them like someguys place there ads right in the middle of the content.
Second alternative can be simple drop adsense and use some affiliate program probably be a photoshop ebook and as you have said you want to make an informative site so vistors will convert well.

Why give away your traffic for pennies? Use it to sell your own products/services or affiliate links.

LOL! I am always horribly torn on this subject and I will say that in my experience after hundreds of thousands of UVs tallied on sites where I have tested both an optin form exclusively or Adsense exclusively or both in combination it really boils down to (IMO) where your traffic is coming from.

Historically for me (and the data is horribly clouded), traffic from any source other than SEO has generally taken the optin route. Traffic from SEO has generally clicked on Adsense ads more.

Why? I have no clue. I am sure there would be tons of theories.

Alexa is right about the fact that you are giving away potential leads for potentially pennies, but I guess the question in that case would be "exactly how targeted is that 'clicking demographic' ?"

Right now, I'm running both in the site in my sig. I recently re-added Adsense and haven't noticed a decrease in optins at all which makes me wonder: "Would those Adsense clickers even have opted in at all?"

Its almost like they were just casual browsers looking to click on something not sign up for anything.

Actually, optins almost doubled (after adding Adsense) from about 10 signups per day to about 20 per day which was the exact opposite of what I expected to see.

Again, all of this is horribly shrouded in multi-layered statistics. All you can do is throw up some Adsense blocks and if your numbers tell you it was a bad idea, then just remove them.

I see that your Alexa Rank is 1,864,365 so making sense of any results is going to be very tough.

You just have to stick with it and build it up.

I'll advise not to go with adsense before you have tons of visitors. Otherwise it will bring you cents and loose the focus of your small audience from your web-site. Instead of it, get partners in nearby sectors with affiliate programs, join them and put some ads on your web-site.
As of you, I'll go with some marketplaces of paid PSD templates, video and audio stuff.
As an example, check this superb program:
