[Feedback needed] Building the 'perfect' responsive squeeze gate
I'm working on a new WordPress theme/plugin called SqueezeGate.
It will allow to create a gate page (along the lines of what some sites like mixergy.com are doing very effectively) and therefore the design needs to strike a balance between being extremely straight-to-the-point (a la fool.com squeeze pages) and visually conveying the essence of a given site, its identity, values, mission etc... at first sight.
I would value your feedback on this early demo and your thoughts on the 10 best practices I have tried to follow so far.
Let me know if you also have other techniques in mind!
1. Content above the fold
2. Clear identity, catchline and call to action (please ignore the actual text)
3. Attention-grabbing animation
4. Limited number of fields. I was wondering if I should keep the name field. Some warriors seem to like using at least a first name in follow-up emails
5. Distraction-free, one flow, no other links
6. Focus on the first text field
7. Responsive design (of course!)
8. Disclaimer
9. Large submit button
10. Fast loading time (still work in progress)
