Membership site script

Do you own a membership site? If so, what is the best and cheap script to run membership sites? So far I have looked into aMember Pro, Member Speed and some other. If you use any of them, please tell me what you think about them. And if you use something else, please tell me about those too.

Thanks

    Hi,

The best that I use is Contepass, the cheapest is John's Little Script For Running A Membership Site.

If you need a link to see these - just P.M. me.

I am reviewing all the options available and it gets overwhelming. DL Guard has been highly recommended. I have not made a final decision as yet.

Check DL Guard and see what you think...I had seen MemberWing before I saw Gleb's post and I like the fact that it works with wordpress. I also have to find someone to set everything up so price is also a consideration.

    Take care,

Before looking at the host of options available for running a membership site take some time and figure out exactly what you want you site to do and what features you need.

Do you only need something really basic or do you want something that can easily scale upwards as your site grows? Do you need support for only one product or for multiple products? Do you require third party autoresponder integration? Do you need something that supports an OTO? Do you need something that allows forum integration?

There are thousands of ways to configure a membership site and before you choose a solution you should know what you are wanting your site to be and to become.

Many people here can tell you which solution they feel is best but keep in mind that although it may be great for them it might not be the best product for you. No one solution can fit everyone's needs.

I am using Memberspeed, and it is a very big package with a lot of plugins. You 'll need to spend some time working your way through all the features, but when its up and running you'll see all the time saving benefits, and it makesyour membersite run very professionally. Its NOT cheap, but its worth it. You are welcome to Pm me if you have any specific questions about memberspeed.

      Hands down:
      - Joomla 1.5 for the membership website.
      - AEC for payment processing
      - Jumi plugin for adding code which Joomla doesn't accept.

All free and they're the best things i've ever tried (and i've tried a lot).

Joomla and AEC are the way I usually go, as James noted they are a versatile open source solution. I used these in the past with Joomla 1.0 and have since updated to Joomla 1.5, which has a much improved administrator interface.

The bonus with this setup is that you get an advanced CMS as well as membership features.

If you're just getting started or you have a business plan that is based on small scale "intentional congruency" then WishList Member is worth looking over! If you're going to be doing a lot of the upfront work and you have only basic skills then I would also recommend WishList Member. However, if you have skills and/or funds for outsourcing AND you want a scalable platform that will grow B I G then you need a dedicated CMS like Joomla with a membership script.

The first thing you need to do is develop a basic business plan like Johnny Slater suggested in post 7. For example if you simply want a site for software downloads then you'll get different feedback than if your needs call for "built in" Affiliate tracking and reporting etc...

If you plan to build your business wide with many entry points into your marketing funnel then make sure you understand the license terms of the membership script software you purchase. No sense in shelling out the big bucks for a one-site license when you plan to build half-a-dozen points of entry into your funnel.

P.S. If you consider WL Member then you want to look at a few of the WordPress themes that allow squeeze pages and blogs on the same site.
