What's the best online business you can create for the next decade?

Without needing to drastically adapt each year or two? I don't mind adapting a little bit but I don't want the whole business model being rendered unworkable in matter of two, three years. If you look at traditional offline stores, they've had a good run where they didn't need to make constant alterations to their business model for many decades - until now that is.

This is absolutely the question to be asking, not how can I make $100 by tomorrow? Only ask the second question when you have a really good idea about the first one.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

I think that everyone always needs to evolve and/or adapt. I don't think that that can be gotten away from.

That's an extremely vague question that warrants an extremely vague answer: The best online business is the one that works.

      What that sir said.

On second thought...selling info products on how create the best online business for the next decade without having to drastically adopt to changes is a pretty safe bet. There are millions of dumbasses who'll gobble any crap you serve them, as long as you hype it enough.

Any stores that sell physical stuff generally can last long without much alteration to the business model.

Just need to adjust the marketing and advertisement to get the sales.

Basically the idea is to sell their products... but just need to adapt to the new sales channel when the marketing medium evolves.

    .
Ever notice that people who spend money on WSO, memberships and courses, are always complaining about being broke and not making any money ?

They should have bought ASSETS instead.

Agree with that. I think stores would provide stability in your online portfolio. Changes when needed to be made, will likely be minor. Just need to find a few good traffic sources and stick to them.

There is no "best" scenario as it depends on one's own skill base, interests, etc.. But speaking for myself, the information business is right up there.

People want answers and solutions to their problems, needs, and wants and they are willing to pay for it.

Yes, I agree. Whatever the technology, people want information.

The other thing I will concentrate on is all things mobile.

I'd have to agree that selling information is a very sustainable business online and will continue to be viable for a long time. If you really want to have something that is sustainable over the next 10 years it would be to only sell HIGH QUALITY information

Agree. This is likely to be the most accurate answer to your question. May not necessarily be the one you'd want though. However, given that erotica (to be PC) has been around since at least Pompeii almost 2000 years ago you're probably safe for the next decade.

Interesting stat: More than 70% of male internet users from 18 to 34 visit a pornographic site in a typical month. (safefamilies.org 2011) .... Now hands up lads...

We are all led to believe everything was either started by the Greeks or the Romans, because they are European. In truth, lot of these things appeared in much older cultures. For example, it is easy to think religion started with Judaism (though not European)/Christianity but in fact, people have have been worshipping in one form or another for 10s of thousands of years.

you should look to create value with your websites. if you create value instead of just spitting out content like everyone else has you'll be good to go.

what would be the best long term method though would be information. information on how to do something rarely changes. If it does change it is due to technological improvments in some way.

How to lose weight, how to get big, how to ride a bike, how to peel an orange, how to maintain your hair, how to get abs, etc, etc.
Information is always being searched for and it hardly ever changes.

The only thing that changes may be the marketing methods but that wont hinder your business model, it just means you'd need to learn how to market on the new method.

Look at the magazine rack and notice all the niches. You have a magazine for all kinds of things. You can take alot of those ideas and make a whole website out of one of the topics in the magazine.

I would definitely say selling info products is here to stay, and more then likely will never go away. The method of delivery might change though, but all in all info products get my vote.

Right now, I am at the starting point and from here it will become an exaggeration for me to tell that I will bring so and so to online within so and so time. But I am hoping to do something good.

Anything online will have to adapt as the years go on. If you want something to stay solid I would suggest looking at off-line opportunities. They are everywhere.

I think the business of the next decade involves mobile and online websites. The integration of the two in an attempt of making lives easier for the consumer is something that will have HUGE demand in years to come.

There is no online business model that is valid for 10 years straight. Think back even just five years ago to December 2007. How much of that is still valid today? Anything? Go back 10 years to 2002 and definitely 100% of that is obsolete.

That's the way the internet still works and will for the foreseeable future. Web developers are in a constant state of discovery, so you can't get comfortable with your own sites.

The brick and mortar model is backed by hundreds of years of development. Business on the internet will be in a constant state of change for our entire lives.
