How to report use of trademark in domain?

How do you go about reporting the use of a brand name in a domain to get the site taken down?

Someone has copied large chunks of a review from my site and made a site with a brand name in the domain. I've seen this done on other sites also, not just one.

I've searched on Google, but I could only find info on how to report a site which uses your own trademark, not a trademark which you don't own.

    Hi there,

You can try communicating with the author of the site first and ask them to remove the content and then again you can ask them to acknowledge it or put a reference and then if not, if you were in the uk I would have ask you to seek advice from IPO UK site.

You concern is the content, you own, which they copied from your site - i.e. a copyright violation. Deal with that.

The trademark issue is between the domain owner & the trademark owner. For all you know, the trademark owner may even have given them permission. You don't know for sure whether it's an infringement. You can alert the trademark owner so he is aware of the site and your issue, but I don't think you should get involved in trying to enforce a trademark which is not your own.

      IANAL of course!

Thanks, but I very much doubt they even read the email as these theifs tend to create sites in mass plus even if they did read the message they'd ignore the request almost certainly.

Does it cost to seek advice from the IPO? As it wouldn't be worth me paying for it.

No it doesn't. cost as this is a government site about copy right and intellectual property rights.

It will only charge you to get TM and if you want to apply for some other special permissions which needs government registrations.

and I know it is very sad when you see others stealing your work. I can feel the pain as many sites have taken my conent but luckly I had copyright on the content done using a private site ( Did cost me though ) but once I found the same site using them then I have just used the private company to take action against the other sites. But in a nutshell it was a long lengthy process and due to the volume of sites and content that I have now I have stopped chasing.

        Best wishes,
