aged domain vs new domain?

Aged domains is always better in my opinion.

The older a domain and the higher the PR the more authority the domain carries.
However these are completely over-rated, they certainly do carry some link juice, but more often than not, they matter little in terms of SEO. If you can get the domain for quite a cheap price then go for it.

Yep Google loves aged domains and uou'll find that you'll get better initially indexing as a result. However it's also about great content, the oldest domain in the world is unlikely to deliver results without relevant high quality information

Well I recently got my domain name 3 months ago and I have just got a keyword on top of Google. Its not high competition keyword but the keyword it BANG ON targeted to the post I wrote.

I also have many other keywords rankings on page 2,3,4 and 5. Just need to spend time on backlinks.

Old domain names are not essential but do help tho.

Aged domains are worth more because of social proof. If someone bought it before, then it has more value.

You also need an exit strategy and an aged domain will attract more potential buyers if you choose to sell your website.

look for a cool domain name with a high pr, I saw pr3 being sold for as low as 11$ and they have more value than 10$ new domain for sure. Google loves high pr sites, just look at all these aged monsters out there, they all get LOTS of traffic, so yes go for a high pr domain with links and history.

Aged domains are definitely better. If you can get them at an affordable price, then why not go for it? If they already have some ranking in Google, you'll get traffic without doing anything. Moreover, you can sell aged websites at a higher price than the newer ones at Flippa. So, yeah, go for it!

Aged domains are good, but their usefulness is frequently misunderstood.

The best question to ask yourself is how important is the 'brand' to your project? For example, if you're building something that people will only find via organic search or PPC then an aged domain will give you a (slight) advantage over starting from scratch, providing the domain hasn't been the victim of any penalties (which is unfortunately why many people are getting rid of 'good' domains lately).

However, if you're building the kind of project that you hope people will spread via word of mouth or in communities (i.e. forums, social) then having an brandable domain will often trump an aged one.

For example, if you sell pens and you can choose between buypensonline.com - a PR3 aged domain or something like amazingpens.com a brand new domain, the former will be great if your main promotion is via Adwords and your visitors only tend to buy from you once. The latter would be better if you're trying to get traction in pen communities for example (..can you imagine how exciting a forum about pens would be :-) ), or maybe if you're trying to get magazines and / or bloggers to write about you.

Personally, I would always choose a new or even dropped domain if it's easy to remember and looks professional over an aged one filled with EM keywords or hyphens. Also with Google's new EMD filter and all the other recent changes we've seen with the algo updates it's likely that anything sold publically will lose its aged benefits pretty soon.

I would go with an aged domain, just be careful you're not buying a domain that has had a crappy link profile in the past. You also want to make sure it fits the niche you're in.
