A Couple Questions To Freelancers (Article Writers/Web Designers)

I see more and more people in the Copywriting forum talk about how they charge $2,000 for a Sales Page and $50 or more for an article.

So my question is, where are people finding those people? My general insight is: They find them off of the forums and through actual companies or corporations. Sure, there are some high rollers here who will pay the price for well researched content but the majority of the people I see, seem to be stuck on "Fiverr" mode or "give me amazing, well researched and high quality content for nothing!"

So, here are my questions:

#1 - Where do you find the majority of your quality clients? Is it right here on the forums, is it through e-mailing companies or what?

#2 - Is it common for people to just go MIA/offline for days at a time? I would think anyone in business for themselves that need content or work done would want it done ASAP but I'm finding more commonly that almost everyone I meet off of here is in no rush to have any of their work done.

Also, they take days to respond to e-mail and some of them take weeks. I have a guy right now who promised that a $1,500 gig was coming and that he was just waiting for payment to clear. He's been offline Skype for a month but still signs into the forum from time to time and refuses to give me an update.

Maybe I'm just not aggressive about it and I need to e-mail every company on the planet to get regular work or I'm missing a big piece of the puzzle.

I came from another forum where regular work was easy but you were being paid at a sub-human level. Since I left that forum, the standard rate has gone even lower to about .50c per 100 words. Yeah, it's pretty impressive...

So those are my two questions to freelancers who have experience in this.

If you tell me to go to Fiverr or Odesk I will reach through this screen -_-

I have a business setup for article writing. I generally quote a price of around 10-12$ per article. Trust me I get a stream of orders in queue. The main aim is having a business website ready. (Professionally Designed, because even though you are a writer, if you don't have a website that kicks ass, then people are not gonna trust you with a lot of money.) After that deliver quality content, and build solid reputation.
Also, If you earn a decent income, I'd suggest you join the war room here on warrior forum, for more techniques and client acquiring skills.

    Kudos

You need to make yourself stand out and explain to people why you are worth what you charge. I charge a fortune for content writing but it's because I'm a Dentist, Web Developer and was British Literature Major in college. So I bring to the table what very few other people can.

Now explain to us that you are a 1) , 2) , 3) and people should hire you to do content writing because you are __________________ and very few other people have this skill set.

"Where are people finding such people?"

The best answer I can give you is of example of a friend of mine. She started writing as a hobby and was member of a forum. She made a great blog and kept sharing. She registered on some of those content writing / buying websites and slowly built a good portfolio. After a few days, she received emails from few individuals for some writing tasks. She was enjoying the work & she delivered the task to their satisfaction. After a few weeks she was surprised to get an offer from a magazine. It was a reputed magazine and she had a good offer.

Even today, she is very busy, but shes enjoying what she does. So, the answer is enjoy what you do and build up you portfolio on a blog, content marketing sites(some of them are low paying, some of them are great). Be active on forums. It helps. Internet is a platform where you can expect the unexpected in terms of networking.

It all depends on how you position your service. You have to convince people why they should choose you over another content writer that has a lower wage. Do you offer SEO optimisation? What about LSI? Are you a native english writer? What are your qualifications? For how long have you been in the niche? Do you have any websites under your portfolio that you have worked for and are now successful or rank well?

Market every positive aspect about your service and you'll start getting quality gigs. Also, offer a free article from time to time to people in exchange for reviews/feedback, etc.
