Say I wanted to hire someone to do work on Pinterest to get traffic to one of my sites, what would be a common strategy or process they would follow?

i recently wrote a loooong post about pinterest ;-)
i don't think you need to hire someone, the most important is persistance. and you need to also do a bit research first and make your pictures really stand out. maybe you like to check out my post here:

i added a video about how to give your pictures a better notice. getting more visitors from pinterest is pretty easy because they are very engaged.
    good luck!

Often I hear that Pinterest has lots of women users, and I am not that. I wonder if I can compete!

I really appreciate your link and we will be starting our program just as soon as I fix one programming issue.

Any tips on tracking traffic or charting your progress?

      Hi,

Yeah, my girlfriend is crazy for Pinterest. She nearly broke my mouse button re-pinning stuff. (Actually I use a trackball, but it would have sounded a bit too much like a double-entendre if I'd just said, "she nearly broke my trackball..")

So I noticed this thread because

      a) Monja has created what looks like a great, thorough tutorial, which I am about to look at as it's something I'm interested in (thanks Monja)

      b) as soon as I saw this, I immediately asked myself, "why is it that women are so crazy for Pinterest?" With my girlfriend, it's because she's very 'visual' - she loves looking at things that make her happy (oops, double-entendre again, snork snork) and likes organising things, into albums for example.

Then I notice that Monja appears to be in Germany, like my girlfriend...

So in conclusion, it seems that women in Germany in particular are crazy for Pinterest, based on my 'survey' of two of them.

    you are welcome, dvduval :-)
i check out my traffic stats with google analytics. it allows me to see how many people from pinterest are coming to my site.
if i use stand-out images to direct traffic to affiliate programs i can check in the affiliate programs stats (if i can track the link) how much traffic was sent there.
    hope that makes sense?

exrat, you are very welcome :-)
i´m not sure that it is a german phenomenon ;-) in general, a lot of women love pinterest to organize their ideas for crafting, DIY + fashion, i guess that´s why. what should men pin there? i can't see a man looking for ideas for his wedding dress. i might be wrong though and some love it but in general i think that this is more women-oriented

Now this is just getting spooky! Although I presume 'fashion' includes make-up? Ah, I see that it does of course!

Well I did start one the other day just for a learning exercise. I didn't get very far, but I started out with one of my favourite bands and their album art, plus some more work by one of the artists who makes their album covers who does some really weird stuff.

This is great! Thanks! you just solved a lil problem I had... can you really pin any photo in the internet with no copyright issues?

there are many images I used for inspiration for my book, and I was spinning my wheels about how to actually show them.

sandra, i don't think there is an issue because you do not "use" the pictures but just link to them and give credit. at no point you "say" that these are your own. so i guess you can just keep pinning ;-)

If the business is related to a popular subject matter on Pinterest (photography, art, crafts, food and drink, weddings, animals, etc.), look for group boards that are related to the subject matter at hand and ask the owner of the board if you can join. For example, if you have a business that does wedding photography, look for group boards related to weddings.

Once you're in a few of these boards, become an active member by posting stuff related to the topic at hand. Seek out interesting items with cool pictures people are going to like. Every once in a while, add in a picture that's related to your business with a link to your business. The key here is to make sure your business is related to the subject matter of the board and that the picture is something people are going to want to share.

You can get hundreds of click-throughs to your site if you use the right pictures and post on the right boards. If one of your pictures gets reposted to a Pinterest power user's board who has hundreds of thousands or even millions of followers, you will see a huge boost in traffic.

one thing that I usually do is create a graphic for every blog post. I'll just throw up something clever that summarizes my post in a powerpoint slide format and then pin it. If it is "witty" enough they generate a fair amount of traffic but I haven't found a way to get consistent traffic. There is no way to determine what people will like.

It already has... but it fights back, as everyone else. I am actually using it as intended, I think.. making a collection of images I used for inspiration or found similar to what I wanted to say...

You don't have to hire someone to work for your pinterest, you can do it on your own. I man pinterest is just easy and not time consuming.
