The Wanted Section And "Free" Product Reviews

Not that we don't get enthusiastic about doing free reviews on products claiming to make $500/Daily without effort but is there ever any plans to enforce some kind of rule on free work or reviews in the following forum section?

Wanted - Members Looking To Hire You

I get that it's for Warriors looking to hire other Warriors but the majority of the posts that come up there are people looking to launch some AMAZING new WSO...

I've seen one paid review job there and the rest of them in the past few months have been for free reviews.

Perhaps even a sub-forum where people can get "Free" and "Paid" reviews split up into different sub-forums respectively depending on what they want.

Probably would be good to limit what they can say about specifics. Just list skills required, time needed, etc.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Or at least have a [Free Reviewers] tag or something similar so some of us know not to waste our time.

You want someone to pay you to review their product? ???

        I'm confused.

Are they not paying you by giving you free access to the product?

          How is that payment?

At the least, it would be nice to know which of them are paying for a review and which aren't.

There are two types of "reviewers" that these people are usually looking for.

A: There's the people looking to spice up their WSO sales page with positive reviews and in turn they e-mail them their super awesome product.

B: There's people looking for honest and genuine feedback in the form of a review and most of the time they pay for this.

Why would any true review not require any kind of payment? Just because they're sending them a product? They have to receive the product to do the review anyways. Besides, if there was any truth to a lot of what these people are selling, how would shelling out a measly amount for a review hurt them in any way? As I said, they're just looking for people to shine up their WSO sales page most of the time in the form of positive reviews.

Give someone free stuff, they're going to give you a positive review no matter what from what I've seen.

Corey, I'm pretty sure paid reviews aren't allowed in the WSO section. But even if they were, not many potential buyers would give them much credence, and rightly so. As it stands, even receiving a free copy should be something that's disclosed in the review.

If you want to do some professional review work, instead of trawling the Members Looking To Hire You section, perhaps you should take out an ad in the Warriors For Hire area and advertise your service.

Well knowing that someone was paid for the review makes the review more suspect and ultimately less believable.

And as far as I know paid reviews are against the rules.

Besides, if there was any truth to a lot of what these people are selling, how would shelling out a measly amount for a review hurt them in any way? As I said, they're just looking for people to shine up their WSO sales page most of the time in the form of positive reviews.

I find it funny that you are subtly implying that WSO creators are possibly unethical in the way they go about getting reviews for their products and at the same time you are trying to use this as justification as to why not only should they give you their product for free but that they should also pay you on top of that.

            Sounds pretty greedy to me.

The best thing they could do is create a section just for review requests and charge the people who post those threads a nice big fee like $40. Then you won't get all the riff raff, only serious people with serious products looking for serious reviews.

      Or this.

I mean, anyone teaching people to make $500/Daily wouldn't feel too much sting on their wallets paying out $40 or even more right?

Now that I think about it, (I haven't seen the official WSO rules in a while), paid reviews aren't in fact actually allowed.

However, there are some people (like the one I was paid for) who was creating a product for his own site and not on the WSO section.

If you are posting an add you are not paying them for a review. You are paying the WF to post an ad asking for reviewers... but yes, you couldn't then pay those people for the reviews.

I have to jump in here and say that I do write "Product Test Reviews." It's a very ethical, and important market research task that should be performed by any business before that business sells it's product(s).

I get paid, and paid well, to perform these tests and document my results. As the product owner paid for the test and the results, they are theirs to do with as they please.

The "idea" that this makes the review 'tainted' is as ludicrous as not realizing that getting a free copy of said product taints the review just as much.

I personally find a business that paid for testing of it's product, far more credible than some business who relies on starry eyed newbies who are so grateful to get the product free that they give a glowing 'review' of how great they 'think' it is... without ever having tested it themselves first.

If it wastes that much of your time clicking into those threads, you either click way too slow or read way too slow. Plus the rules state you must put [Reviewers wanted] as a tag.

Stop clicking threads with that tag and you'll solve the problem.

Danielle, that's not the same thing. You were being paid to be honest and tear a product apart. You know as well as I do, that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish than what's being discussed here.

Tina, I know *what* you mean... what we're really talking about here is a paid 'testimonial' vs. a paid review... the adjective 'test' had to be added to the 'review' offer because a few bad apples tried to pass off a 'review' as a 'testimonial,' and now both got tarnished with the same brush...

Which kinda sucks... as it makes people think that anyone who paid for classic 'market research, and product testing,' is somehow 'shady.'
