Enable Gzip compression for your sites

We have analysed some of the pages on your sites that serve the most ads, and have detected Page Speed problems that create a highly negative user experience for some users. Frequently viewed pages on your site would see large performance improvements if HTTP compression of responses were enabled.

How do I fix this problem?

I think I better get a coder to do it. I might mess something up. Probably got to go on Elance.

Are you running wordpress? Maybe it is a cache problem. Enabling caching can speed up a blog and it can be done by downloading a free caching plugin through the plugin search engine.

If its a plugin then I can upload and enable it myself. But if it has any coding issue, I'd prefer to hire a coder.

Try the plugin first! It may save you some money! Also if you have a lot of large images on your pages/posts, maybe reducing the sizes by editing the images may help the pages load faster as well.

Take a look at a site like this one: Pingdom Tools. Enter your url and it gives you a graph showing how long each bit of the page takes to load and you might find that the culprit is one particular plugin.

I also recommend using a cache plugin if you use Wordpress.

Run your site through GTmetrix as suggested near the end of the article, you can sort out quite a few performance issues, whether a WordPress site or not.

Using the above tools my sites appear to load fast. One takes under 2 seconds and the other 3 seconds. I tried several times and each time get roughly similar speeds.

2-3 seconds is slow. try using a cache plugin as suggested and check the speed again.

Is 2-3 seconds slow? I was under the impression that was pretty fast. On the faster site I already have a very good cache plugin. Anyway, I think I have one or two unused plugins I can remove from both sites. I also have both Statcounter and Google Analytics in the header files.
