How To Set Up a Simple SALES Pipe & Make $$$$$$

Hi People

A little Christmas Gift to anyone who is struggling to get their business working ... here is a simple business plan for a Sales Pipe.

This model is proven to work not just by me but leading IM Guru's. You can use it across any niche as well.

1) Step 1 - Create either low ticket or free products
The objective is to get people into your pipe, therefore you need free reports, videos or anything that will achieve this. You can offer several products to see which works best. It is simply a matter then of refining your offers.

2) Step 2 - Create a Follow Up Sequence
This can be done using simple technology such as an autoresponder such as Aweber or Mail Chimp. If you have the budget look at Infusionsoft, although the learning curve for this is quite long in my experience. The idea is to have in place a whole sequence of follow up messages, phone calls, webinars etc. Your ultimate goal is to nurture and build an excellent relationship with your prospects. Plus of course up and cross sell to them medium ticket price products. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF JUST TRYING TO HARD SELL THEM ... This is counterproductive.

3) Step 3 - High End Sales
If you nurture your prospects well not only will you get sales during the course of Step 2 but will have built a great relationship and of course demonstrated your authority in the niche. With this in mind you can try and offer some high price products. These could be a boot camp, video course, seminar or one-2-one coaching.

Feeding the pipe
I use Social media such as twitter, YouTube and my favourite Facebook to automatically drive free traffic to the front end of my sales pipes. Once people sign up everything is handled automatically.

Gospel Niche Short Case Study
One of my passions is Gospel music and I run an online radio website. Initially I set up an autoresponder base just to get more listeners but soon realised I could make money.

Here is what I did.

I created an initial 50 YouTube videos (more are added every week) which points people who shared the same taste in music as me to a free mix download I have created. Each video is optimised to generate traffic on YouTube and so far I have had about 250k views, I also post the same videos on a Facebook Fanpage which is growing very nicely and share links to both on Twitter.

As a result I get a ton of free traffic to my humble little radio site every day ... many people subscribe taking my FREE mix offer.

Once on my list I have a massive follow up sequence that contains a mix of messages. Some messages talk about artists and provide information about the Gospel Genre. Others point people to mixes I have for sale on the site and finally towards the back end of the sequence I offer my services as a DJ plus an offer to create a tailor made personalised mix for subscribers at a premium.

All of this follow up is automated.

I love this system ... I get regular sales of paid and personalised mixes. Plus pick up lots of bookings that pay up to $750 a pop (I am a good DJ ) ... in fact as a result of doing this I was flown out to Florida from the cold UK to play a mini tour earlier this year. All expenses paid.

Simple Rules:
1) Do not OVERSELL - the best sales pitch is pully not pushy
2) Offer EXTREME Value - Even for any low end or free products. If you provide amazing value you will build a FAN base not just customers.

Now I know there are plenty of expert marketers on WF who probably understand everything I have posted today. But hopefully this post will help someone who is struggling or just starting out.

Either way please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to help

  • Thank you very much for sharing this concept. I'm a new IM and I'm still learning a lot of things. Just created my first website and earned around 4 sales this month (first sale after 3 months). I'm already creating a new website which is more focused on the niche. I'm still trying things out if which one really works for me.

I'm going to try doing your strategy. Thanks again!

  • Great ideas & concepts. Thank you for sharing. The idea which I agree the most is your "DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF JUST TRYING TO HARD SELL THEM". It is most definitely true that most newbies in the world of Internet Marketing are making the mistake of creating direct/hard sales to visitors.

Bernard, I have a confession to make. When I saw your headline and read your opening paragraphs, I was ready to go off on posting old news for sig exposure.

Then I read your case study.

      Well done...

One thing I want to highlight, which many might casually breeze past, is the nature of your freebie. Your audience is people who listen to Gospel music, so you offered them Gospel music. Not some pdf made of articles lifted from EzineArticles or some PLR package. Something you created that offered genuine value to your target audience.

People, when crafting your opt-in incentive, don't look for the (easiest, fastest, cheapest, lowest effort) way to get something to use. Spend the time to know your market, and offer them something they really want.

Gerard, I have to take my hat off to anyone who can parlay a free mix audio into an international gig. Well done, fella...

        Thanks John

        Everything you say is true.

When I first thought about offering a free mix I wondered if it would undermine the fact that I sell mixes i.e. why pay when you can get a freebie.

I am sure some of those who sign up would think this way, however there are sufficient people on board who love the genre and are prepared to pay.

My rule is I am after FANS not CUSTOMERS ... therefore I have to overdeliver.

      Hi Bernard,

Thanks for this. I've added this to my favorites. Creating a sales funnel like this has been one of the hardest things for me because there is so much information out there and, as John said, there are a lot of "quick" solutions out there (PLR, etc.) that are so attractive to use because of the time factor.

This couldn't have come at a better time. I do have a question though, you say that you have a massive follow-up sequence. How many emails, etc., do you send in total (or what do you suggest) and how often? I'm always afraid of overmailing, but I guess that isn't a problem if you are giving a lot of value in each mailing rather than just selling all of the time.

By massive I mean over 45 emails ... plus I do 1 live email broadcast a week.

When people join my list I tell them to expect a minimum of 1 email per week which basically announces when my show will be on plus to look out for other emails from me about the Gospel Music genre.

I make the timings between emails very eratic so it all looks very natural. Plus I do inbetween messages ... for example if I have a new download for my list they get an email a few days before telling them to watch their inbox as I am just finishing a new exclusive mix for them.

My aim with my follow up sequence was to create something that was evergreen and always looks live and natural. I think I have pretty much achieved this because I get lots of interaction from people on my list. It's like I sent them a quick note and they hit me back with a thank you.

  • Automated sales funnels are the best way to make money online: once your funnel is crafted and implemented, it runs 100% on autopilot so you only have to worry about driving fresh traffic to the front end.
