Which Social Network to Use to Promote my Services

I've started dabbling in offering services via fiverr, and so far it has been a pretty good experience. The two services I offer are article writing and ebook cover creation. I'm using fiverr to build a portfolio and get some valuable experience before I more on to finding my own clients.

The question I have, is which social network is the best one to use to promote my services?

My problem is that I only really have time to focus on one. I want to make the time I spend online count instead of just spinning my wheels.

Which one (facebook, twitter, linkedin, other?) would be a good place to promote my services?

If you are only going to use one you should get on facebook, join relative groups (like author groups) and then post some content and every now and then post a link to your sales page

  • Kevin,

I would suggest that you set aside some time to figure out where your potential prospects are spending their time. You want to promote your services where the people that will buy them will be. That may be one of the major networks or it could be none of them. You may even find that social media is not a good avenue to pursue at all (I think in your situation it is but just to illustrate a point). You need to do some market research. “Listen” on these networks and see if the people there are looking for what you are selling. Don’t just market on a network because it’s the “in” thing.

You may be able to find more ideas in this thread,

you can use all of them.

start with the network you have more fans/followers.

test your offers and see which network convert the best for you.

I would promote on all, and also promote on YOUR OWN website too. You may be able to offer more for your services on your site - since there aren't any direct comparisons with you and other freelancers once they're on your site. But use all... the more the better. Get that exposure for your services.

Don't waste too much time on Social Networks. Use just Facebook and give yourself some time everyday to post there, but once that time is up, close FB and focus on more important aspects of your business.

  • If you have enough time, promote on ALL Social Media websites. But if you aren't in to that thing, I can honestly say that Facebook is enough to meet your standards/requirements/goals.

YouTube works for Fiverr Gig promotion. I've had results from using Tumblr blogs too.

    Hope this helps.

I have involvement in facebook and linkedin. Not twitter.
Here is how I research on facebook.

    1. I check how many other marketers are selling similar offers as mine in facebook. If numbers are significant, I take it as a chance.

    2. How are they engaging their visitors?

    3. How are they promoting? Fb ads directing directly to sites or fan pages?

    4. If ads are leading to sites, how the sites look?

    5. If ads are directing to fb fanpage, my work gets easier. I check how many fans they have and are they real or just bought from fiverr. If they are real, I try to find how the generated these fans.

    6. How engaging are the fans? How many posts per day? What are fans mostly responding to?....etc...

If you be a little clever, you'll know how to research in fb very easily.

Linkedin is professional network. I'm still learning tricks. But at the moment I'm simply using linkedin to build my professional network.

    Hope this helps.

  • In my opinion the perfect strategy is to use all means possible in driving people & traffic to your website. You can project information to all Social Media outlets using a program like Hootsuite. So you could plan in advance as many posts as you want, pre-schedule them, and reduce the amount of time you need to spend in each platform.

Why can't you try using all of the social media sites to promote your service? Why limit yourself to only one

The truth is that you probably need to use all of them! I'd love to say that there is one social network that generates all the traffic you need, but that's not true. My own websites get 70% of traffic from around 12 different key sources and you may find that too. I'd create business specific profiles or pages on each of these. All the best, Fiverr may not generate huge profits but it will certainly help to get you clients, which you can then turn into profitable return customers

Tumblr is an options, people might underestimate it sometimes but people who use tumblr is different with people who use other social network. Tumblr user appreciate only good image, and this can be a source for making big network of customer. You said that your service include making ebook cover, then Tumblr is a perfect choice to promote your ebook cover. Here is step by step of how you should di it:
    1. Create Tumblr account with strong branding
    2. Post your works in Tumblr, link it to your sales page, don't forget to properly tag it
    3. Follow other big guy in the Tumblr network
    4. Spend only one hour to post your latest work, AND ANOTHER GOOD IMAGE, for fan-service.
    5. Profit

Hard work will never betray you my friend.

I agree with Cyber start you need to use a network that allows strong branding, use images and videos to promote your service. Use a combination of tumblr, facebook, twitter and youtube. Then you've got yourself a nice consistent flow of traffic.
