Domain name SCAM-beware of email

Last night I was sent an email which looked great but when I moused over the address to update info it was clearly a scam. I suggest that you be very cautious of such emails as you could enable someone to steal your domain name very easily.

I will try to copy the email below...it was from ( supposed to be ) goDaddy.com and said I had too many failed attemptes to log into my domain account so they needed updated info from me....problem is< i do not use goDaddy for anything.

Beware...

Yeah, I receive these all the time. Especially from places claiming to be your bank. Just hit the delete button.............

Never, ever, EVER click on a link in an email that supposedly leads to an account. Always go the the site and log in.

I fully understand not to do so however, this looked very good....when I contacted goDaddy via a reply to the email, it actually went to them, not the person conducting the scam. I have seen this many times in financial sites, never a registrar.

This is the first time I have ever heard of this being done to steal domains, th eyoung lady from goDaddy told me she had never seen one either.

She must be new, because this has been going on for years! Thanks for posting though... it will surely help to alert people to this scam.
