CompuBOOT!

I just purchased that domain and I would appreciate any feedback on what the word might mean to you personally.

In this way (by looking at numerous replies to this post) I hope to be able to fine tune its specific theme and content appropriate to an "as yet undefined" niche market.

It's a computer cooling solution that looks like boots. It has fans and coolant running through it. You set your computer on top and it keeps the computer cool--especially laptops--but looks like your computer has boots. Stylish and functional! Available in different styles and colors. All sizes!

Also available is the CompuBRELLA! It lets you work outside in the rain with your laptop. Comes free with your CompuBOOT order; just pay separate shipping and handling.

Keep your computer cool and looking cool with the CompuBOOT!

It is a name that needs explaining, no matter how it is used. A great tag line will frame the name and give it direction. Otherwise, it is just two things that have nothing to do with each other, like "horse purse" or "string shovel".

That makes sense too. I agree that a good tag line will cement the two things together very well.

In general, I've found names that can mean many different things to different people, are not good names for products. This one seems vague, and easy to misunderstand, so I would be likely not to use it.

LOL! Well I guess we're both caught in following this through to it's logical conclusion:

      "computers with soul"?

      "don't be a heel..try our computers"?

CompuBOOT is what I gave CompuServe when I found out it was not the Internet...

Seriously, I didn't really think of anything. With no context, the pseudo-word has null meaning.

        • The "compu-" prefix went out with the 1980s.

If it's any kind of technology product, unless it's supposed to have a "retro" feel, I'd go with something else.

Ok you guys are going to laugh at this:

I drive a car that had vinyl graphics on it advertising a former business.

Try as they might, the original business owners couldn't peel all the graphics away. I fared no better. So as I speak, the residue of the unpeeled car graphics remain and here is what it says:

                    "Now serving"

                    "call 1-800-xxx-xxxx"

                    "24 hour service"

This is on the sides and rear. There is no other description indicating what business the car was used for.

So I'm driving down a two lane main street and come to a set of lights. The driver in the car on my right that is full of people starts gawking at my car with a serious expression on his face and begins pointing and telling his passengers. I pretend not to notice and start holding back the laughter.

This continues with other people wherever I go, even to this day.

I took the car in for servicing and even the mechanics noticed. So they asked me what the 24 hour service thing is all about and what it is that I do.

Seizing the opportunity to create a mass laughingthon, I told them in as sober a voice as possible that I do anything; computer repair, escort services, grocery delivery, drug running, parcel pick up, catering, funerals (bodies 'r us), etc. Everyone roared.

And that's what life is all about - making others feel good about living!
