Hi Warriors!

I'm looking for your recommendations for sites that you can index articles in that auto approve and have proven to rank in Google.

Please don't just post a massive list that I have to sort through. I want your top 3-5

My top ones are:

wordpress
blogspot
goarticles
google sites
articlebase

Cheers!

Are you asking for them so that you can try to use them, or to make sure you avoid them?

Even as long ago as 2010, before all Google's 2011 series of "Panda updates" devalued the SEO potential of article directory backlinks so much, standard, established SEO-textbook writers were explaining in some detail why one would typically need many tens of thousands of those "backlinks" to confer the same linkjuice to your site's off-page SEO weighting as that arising from one backlink on a quality, relevant site. Nowadays, of course, the value of those backlinks has declined still further, as so many members attest to so regularly.

It's easily enough verifiable for yourself, too.

This isn't what article directories are for. These backlinks have no real value. They're all non-context-relevant (and PR-0) backlinks. As the saying goes "100,000 of those backlinks and $3.50 will buy you a cappuccino at Starbuck's".

(And get you heavily penalized by Google's Penguin update, of course :p ).

Don't you think if google started penalizing sites linked with article directories then it can also be used as a weapon against competitors.
If we want to hurt someones ranking just link his/her sites with article directories then bang their sites are out of water...

I don't think it can: I know it can. So does Google, and they've acknowledged this, of course. That's precisely why they had to introduce their new link disavowal system in October! (Where have you been?!).

Yes, exactly so. Google has for the first time opened the door to "negative SEO", this year. They've also admitted it openly and come up with a sort-of-solution to it.

Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: A new tool to disavow links

I don't mean it rudely, but why are people with comments about "SEO" in their signature-files always the last to know about these things?!

OK as far as I know articles base is nofollow and goarticles is dofollow only in the authors resource box, as all the other links are nofollow - as in those in the body copy. This is something to keep in mind as Google claims to not use nofollow links in their score. Still, they might have some value due to traffic they bring in.

Yea, auto approve anything is playing with fire. Focus on making a quality site and one day you will start to see the benefit. It takes time.

Article directories provide less and less SEO juice. What would prove useful is guest posting.
