Cool way to use other people's YouTube videos to create your own

First, let me be perfectly clear: simply re-branding other people's videos is not OK at all. Apart from being a theft, it is also pointless because you're not contributing in any way.

There is, however, an ethical way to use other people's YouTube videos to create your own - by splicing and stitching several of them together, and YouTube itself gives you the tools to do it: Video Manager and the search filter.

In doing so, you're creating your own medley to cover the given topic in the unique way - this is YOUR contribution.

Here's how to do it:
  1. Go to YouTube and search for the topic you want to cover
  2. IMPORTANT: use the Filter to select Creative Commons License
  3. Select the best videos and add them to your list
  4. Use Video Manager to combine the videos together, chopping off the parts that you do not need
  5. [Optional] Record your own video intro
  6. IMPORTANT: give credit to the authors of the videos you've used, and
  7. Publish the video.
Please note that the step number 2 is essential. You cannot simply take any video you want, it must be under the Creative Commons License - otherwise you're stealing.

The good thing is that right now there are over 4 million videos on YouTube under the Creative Commons License - plenty to choose from to cover any topic you want.

I am not sure if this is really a good way to create your videos, as I dont see what you (the video uploader) can gain from such videos if you are trying to promote your own brand or product.

This is a good traffic-generating method. This is what you can do with it:
      1. Use it to cover one topic well - and generate goodwill and subscriptions to your channel
      2. Direct people to your other videos - which directly promote your products
      3. Provide the link under the video taking people to your squeeze page

You don't have to promote your own product. You can simply use it to gain views and add YouTube monetization to the video.

You only have to do a brief search on YouTube to see how popular mashups and the "Top 10....", "The Most Amazing...." etc type videos are that simply use clips/images from other sources and compile it into a single video.

Some of those videos have >10 million views.

I think, this is the right word for this youtube video creation system. Just like content curation.

This is an excellent method of creating ethical content for your YouTube Channel.

It is important to build up information rich content within your YT account in the same way you should be doing when creating websites. Unfortunately it is not always easy writing multiple scripts for multiple videos and creating them at warp speed.

This method shortens the process and allows you to populate your channel quickly over a relatively short period of time.

Of course, do remember that there is more to creating a content rich channel than just loading it up with multiple videos.

Hi dralex! I never even considered doing this before I normally just create my videos from scratch, but I actually love this idea.

    Kind regards

Thanks! Creating your own videos from scratch is the best - but in addition to it, splicing scenes from several popular videos is a quick way to get some extra traffic

Here are 3 examples of how to use it to drive traffic to your offer:

      - A composite video from 5 most popular dog training videos
      - A link in the video description pointing to your dog training course

      - A composite video from 5 travel mishap videos
      - A link in the video description pointing to your travel insurance offer

      - A composite video of 5 best free Wordpress plug-ins in the given category
      - A link in the video description pointing to your low-cost plug-in doing just a little bit extra

Here's a post and video I made a while back in the War Room and recently posted in The High Voltage Video Forum:
Here's a fast, easy and effective way to create Youtube videos using other peoples' videos. It's ethical and legal.

There are tons and tons of people that upload videos to Youtube using the Creative Commons license. This means, they are giving you permission to use their videos.

Youtube's video editor makes it easy to create your own "remixes" using CC videos.

Use these videos to create content on Youtube you can drive traffic to. Then divert this traffic to your own products and affiliate programs.

It's very easy to do, even the rawest newbie can create videos with this method.

And, I show you a special technique for getting more clicks...

Check out the video on this page. It's about 10 minutes long, and if you're not familiar with the Youtube Creative Commons editing feature, you will discover one of the most powerful free content creation systems on the web.

That was all very informative thanks, dralex, thanks for posting.

It has given me some good ideas and could be particularly useful
in offline marketing where you need images on subjects you have
no idea about. This would be much better for what I have in mind.

Kurt's video was great too, thanks. Shame there is no link on you
YouTube channel for the Call to Action vidoes... just have to make my
own.... unless you want to post it in which case you will have a new
    subscriber!

I should have mentioned that the call to action videos aren't available publicly any more. I have added them to the new Warrior High Voltage Video forum, so members can download them there.

      Sorry about the omission...

Using "Creative Commons License" videos are great way but as you rightly said, we may need to record our own and use specific parts of such videos into ours to make it valuable. I am actually covering this as part of my Video Marketing List to my subscribers. Good one!
