404 Fixed but always repopulate in WMTools

Hi
I have fixed my 404 problems and click 'Fixed' in webmaster tools for all these errors, but then they constantly return ie often the next day. At the moment I have 5,955 Not Founds errors under Health --> Crawl errors in WMtools.
Has anyone else experience problems to get the WMTools stats to be up-to-date or with fixed errors returning?
cheers, Paul

Ping the url where the error came from using a service like pingler(dot)com, then give it a day or 3 for WMT to catch up.

There's also the option in WMT to remove the error manually, they ask "are you sure", and you just click yes. If they don't detect it again, it will be gone permanently. However, if the googlebot picks this up again, it might be a server problem on your hosting account.

I had a similar problem on one site a ways back. Was always getting lots of 404 and also other errors.
Are you getting any "server connectivity" alert in WMT? If so as SEO Haven pointed out it could be a server issue with your host.
This was one case we had. Although the host would not admit to the problem, more or less, but it was set on a older server that was flooded with accounts. It was unable to handle all the requests and when G would come by, they would get timed out by the server and leave.
You can run a tool like screaming frog seo. If it doesnt run all the way through then its a good chance you have a similar problem.
Ask your host to move you to a different server.
Again, this was a case we had on a site and this was the problem and solution that correct it.
