Blog or Squeeze page in forum signature?

Hi there guys and gals just a quick question for you all today. I'm trying to build my list and one of the ways I'm getting traffic is by blog hopping and forum commenting.

Now what is the best signature link to have in after my comments. I was wondering if I was to send traffic to a squeeze page then the visitors would likely to be cold traffic and conversions be very low, but if i put my blog link in there I could maybe convert them will some good content and advice.

I appreciate everyone is busy so any advice is always very welcomed.

Merry Christmas.

Why don't you set up some tracking analytics using something like Adtracks Gold and split test the blog and squeeze page. This will give you a far better answer of what works than any of us speculating can.

Boom! That was an explosive reply and the best answer in my opinion
Which is no discredit to anyone else's answer.

I think it's a bit of overkill to be tracking things like that. Just my opinion.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone's entitled to an opinion. It wouldn't be much of a discussion forum without them.

If they go to your blog they could never come back again if you do not collect their information there. At least with a squeeze page you collect their information and can continue sending them valuable stuff.

OK so give them a taste of your popcorn. However, sell them on the movie.

Create a blog and offer a free e-book if they sign up.

That way you get their email.

You could send them to a squeeze page OR you could send them to you blog and when they leave the page have an exit pop offer which would be your same squeeze page offer. That way you get the best of both worlds.

Hi. You can try both and see among 100 visitor, how many did subscribe your email list.
    Only do method that's work.

Do both. Not all visitors are created equal. Some will want the freebie on your squeeze page, and some will want more "instant" content via your blog.

Depends how confident you are in your squeeze page. I did debate about this topic a fair bit myself but seem to be having success with the squeeze.

Thanks for your responses guys. I don't yet have a separate squeeze in place, only my blog. But I'm also looking for a good bribe to get people to sign up as I don't have my own product yet.

These days I believe you have to offer a very freebie, or even your headline has to be really strong to get that opt it.

Or is it just me that's getting quite immune to all these "get my free ebook on how I make 1000's per day and live the dream working from home"

Or are the real hypey headlines still working for you guys?

Would it be easier to get a separate squeeze page built or are there plenty of free tools to do this and then upload to my wordpress blog?!

do what i do steve and include both ;-)

i still build my list from my blog anyway and having a blog is a great tool to presell your traffic

Split test using things like Adtracks Gold and split test. Try three things - send the traffic directly to squeeze page, send the traffic to blog content, add a sidebar sign up form besides the content of your blog and send the traffic there.

  • Send them to something of value - that way they can sign up for something and you get the list!

Plus, (and I could be completely wrong here) isn't against the rules to send them to a squeeze page?

Or is that if you're just an affiliate?

I just decided to keep it safe and send to my own site. But I think I read that somewhere.... I could be wrong.

Thanks guys for your valued opinions. My blog is growing slowly but surely but I think now I just need need to get a good offer on there to capture my visitors. What are peoples experiences of using floating opt in pop ups. Do people find them obtrusive or do they actually worked and get good opt in rates?

Can anyone recommend where to get a good offer from as my freebie? I was thinking of a PLR product but I don't to associate myself with some crappy product.

put something together yourself steve, people will appreciate it way more if it's unique to you

it could be a simple pdf with your best traffic sources, a keyword research guide, top 5 best ways for making $50 per day online, how to set up a wordpress blog etc

Chris farrell built a huge list just by giving away his free report on how to build a website, it was simple but people found it useful

it doesn't always have to be groundbreaking but it does have to solve a problem and help people out :-)

use what skills you have and create something that you know a fair bit about and have some good skills and experience in

That sounds like a good idea Paul I think I could do something about how I built my blog. Personally I found it quite simple to put my blog together and I'd like to think it looks ok and is engaging to my reader (what do you think) but I think I may be able to put together a quick guide of how i did it. Get someone of fiverr to do a report cover and boom I have a product!

        Wow is it that simple?

I would say that will most likely depend on what forums you are posting in...

Largely depends on the niche so I would suggest to test it out with Analytics

Thanks Dan, had a quick peek at your blog, wow you have made some progress quick with Alex Jeffreys, I too am a student. I got involved with the money trigger and I'm building my blog that way. Did Alex teach you to go out and promote so early on? I'm still trying to build my blog at the moment and of course my list which is why I'm looking here for some top advice.

    Test both methods.

BUT, make sure you have some kind of pop up on your blog with the SAME offer. I use pop up domination.

I'm willing to bet the squeeze page will work much better.. so long as your offer is irresistible to that audience.

    Good luck!

Why not do both? Just make sure you have an opt-in form on your blog also

I would suggest track everything, but still landing pages have worked wonder every time so I would say landing page or blog page (and capture the leads)

It's ok to use squeeze page links, and optimize your squeeze pages to ensure it can offer value to visitors.
