Hi All,

I am putting a signup form on one of my landing pages and it has a checkbox to say that the person signing up has read the Terms & Conditions.

Now it is pretty important that the person signing up agrees with what is in the T&C's and I would like them to preferably read them before signing up.

But... they are long and boring so if anyone clicks on them it takes there mind off the signup form a little and they might just abandon the whole thing.

My question is... What is the best way to display/to show the person signing up your T&C's if they wish to look before signing up???

I know it is a real bad idea to take them to a new page but what should I do? Put them in a popup window and have a click through to next page (like Apple/Itunes)?? Or is there another better way??

I guess although I would like them to read them it would be better if they just clicked the checkbox and carried on through (on a side note does anyone know the percentages of signers that do that?) but if they are to look at them I need the best way for them to look quickly and then get back on track to signing up!!!

SO.. What is the best way to display/link through to your Terms & Conditions on a Sign-Up Page without losing the Customer???

Many many thanks for any help or advice received

Must you use the check box? just below the form you can write " by signing up you agree to our terms and conditions" and then link to a page that contain all the explanations of terms.

I NEVER read the terms and conditions and I suspect that 99.9% of your subscribers will not read them either.

If there are any later problems, you know what is is in your T&C's and your subscriber has agreed to them whether they read them or not.

Yeah. Don't bother. No one's going to read it.

Also, Forgot to ask, what do you guys think on this?

Should checkboxes already be ticked or not?

    If not, Why Not?

No. I say that because in every single application I download, they aren't ticked by default. I'd just do what seems to be the go.

I have found most people for some reason to do not read it. I guess its like the fine print of many credit card applications.
