Please help the mods on this forum by reporting threads which do not belong in this section of the forum as per this instruction by Paul Myers here...

http://www.warriorforum.com/blogs/pa...g-deleted.html

If one or more of your posts have disappeared, here are the most likely reasons:

1. Violated one or more rules. This is the one you most want to avoid.

2. Tons of pointless one-liners. Sorry, folks, but if you come in as a new member and start posting a ton of one- or two-liners, they're going to end up being deleted. If you're new and your post count dropped a lot, fast, that's almost always the reason.

Same with posting to a lot of old threads. One member dredged up at least a half dozen threads today from 2009, with comments that added nothing to the original discussions.

3. Wrong section of the forum. This is getting ridiculous. We move 100 or more posts per day from main discussion into various sub-sections. I'd say that's a very conservative guesstimate, since my last 3 passes through have resulted in moving 40 or 50 in a short time. And that's just me. There are a half dozen mods handling stuff in this section.

If you want the best answers to your questions, post them where the people hang out who focus on the topic involved.

Over the past few weeks, I've been alternating between moving such posts, closing them with a note about where they belong, and outright deleting them. I am going to start slanting much more toward simply deleting them. It appears that is the most likely action to get people to pay attention.

If you want a review of your web site design, or have a question about web site design, put it in the web site design section. If you want help with Wordpress, put it in web site design. Or, if it's a programming issue, in the programming section.

If you want a review of your sales copy, put it in the copywriting section.

Posts relating to CPA that are posted in main discussion will simply be deleted. The majority of those are fakes, designed to get attention for specific programs. Speaking of which, I'd be very careful about believing most of the reviews of programs in that section of the board. It's rife with shills.

Cleaning that section out without nuking every person associated directly with a company would take two weeks, doing nothing else. Yeah. It's that bad.

You've been warned.

Product reviews belong in the reviews section. If you don't have enough posts to put one in there, wait until you do. There's a reason for that limit.

Note: Support questions about products are not reviews, and do not belong in the review section. A LOT of people are confused about this. The first place for a support question is (surprise!) the merchant's support forum or mailbox. Not the Warrior Forum.

If you must ask here, do it in the section most relevant to the product in question.

The SEO stuff is absolutely the worst. Questions about backlinks, page rank, the effect of domain names on placement in the search engine results, and anything else that has to do with where a site appears in a search engine belong in the SEO section. AdSense, AdWords and PPC stuff go in the same section. (Yes, it seems odd. It's close, and it keeps us from having too many sections that are too narrowly focused.)

Do not expect a personal explanation about why your posts were deleted. We're not going to get into 100 or more arguments per day with people who haven't read the rules and don't pay attention. Or with more experienced people who post in main discussion because it gets more eyeballs.

If someone posts something that's in the wrong section, please point them to this thread, and then report the post. We'll probably just nuke it, but they might see the pointer before that happens.

If you spend time answering a question that doesn't belong in the section where it's posted, don't get mad if your answer gets deleted. Wait until they post it in the right place to help them out.

**********

To locate several threads in one go, use the search function. For example using the Advanced Search function on this forum, in the left pane type in there: SEO

Next select: Search Titles Only

Next select on the right hand side under: Search in Forum(s) - Main Internet Marketing Discussion Forum

When the results appear do you see the url? Highlight it with your cursor and copy it.

Next select the top post which is in the wrong section and click on the Report Button and paste in the url you copied previously into the Report Box before clicking on Send Report.

This way the moderators can instantly see several offending threads instantly of which more than a few are probably in the wrong forum and these can then either be moved or deleted as deemed appropriate by the moderators hence saving them and yourself a lot of time reporting threads individually.

This is a good post that helps a lot. Being somewhat new here myself I didn't feel it was my place to point out an out of place post but now after hanging around for nearly a year if feel it's more of a duty to help out. I don't really plan on going searching for problems but now when I spot them I understand how to easily deal with it and help the moderators who I sincerely appreciate.

Anyway, good post Mark. I hope that it sticks around the top for awhile so that many other people can learn from it. Thanks!

      You're more than welcome AZMD.

Doesn't matter how long you've been here. Reporting threads and posts, this little effort by everyone, regardless of the amount of time spent here on the forum, helps to make it a more pleasurable experience for everyone involved.

      Thank you doing your part.

I will now try to help the moderators, especially the OP.

    Here is some advice:

Someone has already written WAR AND PEACE. Don't try to out-Tolstoy Tolstoy.

This is the internet. Keep it brief, catchy and visually appealing.

Lots of words, words, words is boring. Get to the point KWICKLY if you really want people to actually read you.

Personally, I think the title of this thread ought to be something like "X Common
or Top Reasons Why Your Thread's Deleted - And What To Do". Still, it's good to
see this one discussing the subject especially for newbies.

Thanks for the ongoing support Mark. It is truly appreciated.

I believe this forum is the best on the net and it is solely because of people like Mark and Paul and the many other names (too long a list to say them all) who keep this place alive and kicking when others disappear into oblivion.

      A suggestion (if technically possible).

Instead of the mods having to delete posts or "move 100 or more posts per day from main discussion into various sub-sections" they just hit a delete type button which deletes the post and sends a copy back to the poster with an automated message saying effectively that it has been posted in the wrong forum and that it up to the poster to sort it out and that no discussion on this will take place.

      .

Might be a good thing to create a new thread in the Suggestion Forum with this idea too Harvey?

I'm sure anything which helps the mods to do their job faster or which makes their life easier, this kind of thinking would certainly be considered even if it's not entirely welcomed or implemented instantly.

Good to see you again btw - I hope you're well.

That's all good and well Mark, trying to make things better.

Since all everyone seems to be doing is kissing your you know what for starting this thread, let me ask you something?

    Who moderates the moderators?

Who checks to see that their decisions which may be totally subjective or even incorrect are accurate?

And finally, is this the solution? Clearly you are frustrated, that is fine. But don't start threatening to delete peoples posts more often for the simple fact that you can not find a better solution to the problem and then revel in everyone's gratitude towards your thread because no one has the b***s to question your logic.

I know why my stupid posts and threads get deleted, but why do my legitimate ones get deleted?

I believe I could speculate and say why.

Im actually looking forward to seeing if this post will be deleted.

*UPDATE* Why are you even posting this in the thread titled "Where We Talk About Making Money" should this not be in the "News" section? Or would that simply be to facetious of me to ask?

    No hard feelings btw.

For me it's not so much about being warned, I could care less.

For me it is about being intelligent, using technology, being optimistic, positive, using what is great and not harping and warning based off of what is not good and not getting all worked up and then posting about it.

As an example Marks point #2 was just absolutely 100% plain childish and stupid.

One liners are sometimes what make this place great. What so now I cant make a comment like "I agree, thank you" because some moderator said so?

Now I can't add some of my own color and character to a thread to liven it up with some one liner humor. Honestly...

I mean take a look in the War Room for example half the posts are to say thanks.

      Thanks for posting.

    Andrei,

You obviously don't understand the scope of what it takes to be a moderator. Rules are set for a reason. I moderate in another forum that isn't as big as this one and there are challenges sometimes as to what is right and wrong but the moderators have the final say. They may discuss if something is ambiguous but the moderators have been appointed as such because the admins/owners believe they are capable.

There will always be dissension about some decisions but that's just the way it is. Mark only does his best and that's good enough for me and many others here.

You know what they say about assuming right?

I do not think you really understood my reply post.

I thought I wrote it fairly simply so that anyone could understand what I was saying. Maybe you can go back and re-read what I said and then come back and reply post with something tangible and intelligent to add instead of letting other things fog your opinions of what we are really discussing.

      *UPDATE*

      I'll quote one great mind.

"Man creates laws when he has no other solution" Jacque Fresco.

Rules are fine, laws are fine. Whatever, we get it.

What do you seriously think harping on the rules has done for the forum or in this case for Mark apart from THIS?

It's like Einstein said "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" or in Marks case "doing the same thing only warning people that there will be even harsher consequences" because he can not find another solution.

If you really want me to, I'll dig out a whole bunch of posts, it's Xmas day, everywhere is shut, I'm bored..I'll do it.

I bet $100 this post get's deleted. I've had 3 frikking posts nuked now in a row.

It's a valid question and a Valid point.

If someone comes here and starts saying "You've been warned" I'll take that to mean he is talking to me, I've got a right to question that?...
For me it is not a personal thing with Mark.

Like I said earlier, I could care less.

I think you are allowed to question, just try not fighting fire with fire. Try water.

One of my other questions would be something I hinted at earlier. Why are moderators and people like Mark allowed to post this here in this forum? I thought the main forum was for making money topics?

One could speculate and say that they want the most eyes on it and the simplest way of doing that is posting it here. That's fine, but c'mon then guys... is that really fair? It certainly does not seem fair. So if its not fair then why the hell start the thread anyway if we can just make, change and amend the rules for certain people and not others?

I think a better way of doing it is putting something like this (minus all Marks professional ranting) in the news area or if it is so important give it a banner spot.

Andrei, the War Room is a special case. If you look at the older posts, you will find real discussion. But that was back before the War Room became a WSO Recycling Center.

If you wanted to reach a group of bikers about an issue, would you be better served posting notices at the courthouse or on the doors of biker bars?

I'm not going to get into Mark's specific comments or your reaction to them. It sounds more like you are reacting to having something deleted than this thread, and either way it's between you and Mark.

I'm just saying that if you want to reach sinners, you don't post your notice in the church bulletin...

As if it were not patently, blindingly obviously so...

For the benefit of one or two of you...

The above guidelines for posting here on this forum as per my opening line in the OP, these guidelines were written by Paul Myers. Not me. Hence the reason why I put the link up twice, first at the beginning and again at the end to make it absolutely obvious.

I suggest if you have a problem with Paul's written guidelines for posting here, you take it up with him personally. Good luck!

Calling his guidelines 'stupid' not to mention a few more chosen words to describe these guidelines posted up by him, plainly demonstrates you're missing the point completely.

You're skewing the facts put forth to suit yourselves even though it's obvious to most people these guidelines are here for the benefit of everyone on this forum.
