The "JOB" is the motivation. Not many people like their soul sucking day jobs! There are exceptions of course but most people get stuck in the cycle of punching a 9-5 clock and waiting for retirement. But I think you'll find a few people that will tell you retirement isn't as safe as it was a few generations ago. In my case I own the business that I work in but the hours are 5:30am-7pm and sometimes later.

Not much time with the family and I sure as shit don't want to work like that when my kids are getting into what ever they will get into down the road. Yea the money is good but i want to be there for games or what ever it is they decide they want to do. many times I'll live on 4 hours of sleep a night just because I need to write that article or bookmark something, but thats just what has to be done so i do it. So leaving the JOB is the motivation.

If you want something bad enough or are interested in something enough you'll have all the motivation you'll need. yea this is work to, but man is it FUN!

FOR BRYAN ZIMMERMAN: Just about ready to purchase your program...a couple quick questions in the interest of not doubling-up on similar info or purchasing more programs then needed, please:

I was thinking about purchasing some of Jeremy K.'s Bootcamps, and he praised you here as one of his star pupils who's program really gives you the goods you need. If I do your program, will I still need any of his Bootcamp materials? And,

Your program offers a step-by-step 30-day structured path to getting up & running, and the Nitro Mktg. program offers something similar (albeit with a big wall-chart and a ton of disks.) Would following your program render doing the Nitro one unnecessary?

PS I had to ask this here, rather than in the WSO Forum, 'cause I don't have enough posts yet to reply there or in a PM, thx

Hah, it's easy when you're working 230+ hours a month.
    That alone keeps me motivated.
Also to be able to spend more time at home with my family.
    Money comes last, dead last.

I stay motivated because I really like "Living Well" and the IM life affords me that without the hassles of a J.O.B.

Sure this lifestyle comes with it's own 'hassles' too, but atleast I've created them.

I'm motivated by the prospect that one day money won't be an issue for me. Jim Rogers says he's not rich because he loves money - quite the opposite - he's rich because he wants to be free. Money is no object or aspiration for him. Freedom is, and I agree.

Great words there. Living a life without having to think about money would be a dream come true.

  • Try to find little successes in everything you do online.

For me, flipping a quick site motivates me to keep going with my other projects.

Anything I can do to keep money coming into my paypal account motivates me to keep pushing forward. However, there have been struggles.

Right now, I have this one site with adsense on it that I havent touched in two months, yet it is earning $30-$50 a month, from 7 articles I submitted to EZA. That keeps me motivated.

I actually enjoy my full-time job. Sure, there are times when I'm really excited about something I'm doing in IM and I resent having to stop to go punch the clock for 8 hours. But there's a flip side to this. I worked at home exclusively for several years back when I was an email marketer and I became a downright scary person. I got fat and anti-social. Truth. And I was mentally a wreck half the time. I was making good $$$, but the cost to my health and mind was ridiculous. Now I'm tired all the time, but getting away from this computer and into the "real" world, where I must deal with other human beings for a few hours, is worth the lost IM hours.

Before I was able to quit my job, I would always stay motivated by setting goals. I would set goals I wanted to hit, and then I would strive to hit that. In order for me to hit that certain goal there are certain things that needed to be done.

So, I would make sure that I set small term goals to hit the things that needed to be done daily. Plus, I hate working for other people so bad that I can taste it.

I would wake up angry every single morning to the fact that I had to go and make someone else rich.

I am truly and unemployable person. It does not matter who I'm employed by or how much I'm making. I simply do not like it.

So, that was motivation in itself. I cannot take working for a job anymore. So, I did whatever it took to become full-time. And here I am a full time Internet marketer.

So, you can do it if you set your mind to it. But, you need to understand that it takes action. You cannot sit in front of your computer and read the warrior forum all day and expect to become a full-time marketer.

Do you want to know why I know that? Because that is what I did for the first three years online. I thought that if I just hung out at this forum I would somehow miraculously make money. Guess what, I did not make any money.

I might've made some money if I actually posted more. But, I was just a reader. I would spend hours a day just reading forum posts. Sad I know, but it is the truth.

So, go out there and take massive action. Do whatever it takes. Never give up on your dreams and keep on striving for the top. You can do it!

    Talk soon,

    Shannon Herod

One of the biggest mistakes I made was quitting my job when my online income was enough to live off of.

I wanted the time to work on MY BUSINESS, rather than someone elses.

Did it work? Yes, but looking back outsourcing that work with my online profits, and keeping my full-timer to pay bills etc. would have been a much better option.

I just look at my kids and that motivates me. I want to be able to free up time to spend with them. The only way to do that is to set up some residual income processes.

Are you referring to staying motivated on your day job, or with IM?

I think they're talking about how to stay motivated as a work-from-home-er.

Don't take this the wrong way guys, but here's a question for you - when you're sitting there feeling rather un-motivated - do you actually conjure up an image of "freedom" and does that actually get you going?

I mean, freedom for me is a big motivator of why I got into this, but it's a bit abstract to really get your but in gear at crunch time.

The title of the thread says those with a FT job AND doing IM.. I'm trying to figure out which one the OP has problems with stayign motivated with.

Everyone is talking about motivation from the IM side - but it could also be a problem staying motivated to do the 9-5. If they need some sort of motivation to build their own business, then maybe it isn't going to work out for them.

If it's the day job, then I'd say just stick it out until you are making enough money with IM that you won't miss the income from the job.

I have just started and not only have I a full time job but I am also 28 weeks pregnant and have a two year old !!!! haha, that alone motivates me. I would love to be able to spend more time with my children and one day say goodbye to this 9 - 5 job. I must admit that I hate sitting for 8 hours a day at a computer and then going home and doing the same but if there is info etc I want to read I print it off (and recycle it after) and read it in my bed:-)

Same here, someone who has been doing a job and IM for the past several years.

The global financial crash reminded me of where my priorities really lay, and put a question mark on the value of printed money....for me.
