Are there places online that will pay up front on a daily basis for article writers? I would like to be able to earn say $20-30 or more every day to earn a small weekly income.

Thanks

Do I have to sell the articles on these sites though? I would prefer not have to sell them. I would prefer to get article writing work and get paid when they are written.

In the long run, the way to do that (and to be much better paid, overall) is to write to order for private clients.

But that means treating it like a business, because that's what it needs to be. It also means having your own professional website to promote your services (even if it's only a 2-page blog), having samples and testimonials, and all the things your competitors are doing.

Alexa is correct in all ways, here. It takes a bit more effort but it's worth it.

It's convenient to join some site and be part of the pool of writers. There are trade-offs. You don't have to get out there and "hustle" for work. There's less uncertainty, and you don't have to be so concerned about many things.

But you'll make less money, and you'll be at the mercy and whims of processes and other things.

If you're not hard pressed for money, then make a nice site, etc, as Alexa mentioned.

Don't be hesitant to contact people about writing for them. Choose your rates and stick to them. Never undersell your writing just to get a gig. I recommend you avoid writing for the "general" IM market because they want literary greatness for $5 per 500 word article.

        To hell with that.

There are millions of businesses and clients in this world who understand and appreciate value and are willing to pay a fair price for it. And for much more than pennies per hundred words.

It's not hard but also not necessarily easy, meaning fast. But you never know.

And I speak from years of experience.

I've subscribed to Constant Content for a while and seen the prices they pay, but have submitted articles and they have tough standards in my opinion. Maybe its just me and maybe its them. As a freelance writer, getting established clients is a top priority. Best of luck on those. Lots of clients don't enjoy paying upfront, but I've had WAY too many clients back out at the end of highly criticize my work and not want to pay at the end. I'm a writer, not a bill collector. Good luck.

Iwriter is a very good, low hassle option for anyone wanting to get started making money online by writing articles for others. The process is simple, all you need to do is :

    * Sign up for an account

    * Select from their list of articles that need to be written (based upon specific keywords and for an agreed upon amount).

    * Write the article and complete it within a certain time period (usually about 3 hours for a 500 word article) and when the person who requested the article reviews and approves it, you will have earned your agreed upon pay for each of your approved articles.

And you can choose to get paid weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.

    Hope this helps ; - )

Thanks everyone who replied. Starting a writing business sounds like a good idea once I've got some experience and I've started earning some income. However, in the meantime I would like to find a definite way of earning $20-30 on a daily basis. I would prefer to be able to do this working at home online. Can any of you please tell me which of the above sites or anywhere else would guarantee me with some writing work? Will sites like Text Broker and Iwriter provide enough work every day? I'm hoping to do this alongside writing for residual income.

The other question is, is it possible to do well as a freelance writer online?

    Thanks

Textbroker always has work. You give them a short sample when you sign up, they rate it two, three or four stars. Then you are able to write articles up to the corresponding level. For example, they rate you a three, so you can take a two star or three star job. If they rate you a four, you can take a two or three or four star job. The first week or so you are limited to five articles until they evaluate them. After that, you can take as many as you like.

Yes, lots of people make a good living at it. Like others here said, you need to get private clients eventually plus sign up at the better paying content mills to ensure steady work that pays a decent amount. Starting at textbroker is a great beginning to get a feel for keywords and what the clients want.

      Good luck!

When you say that Text Broker always has plenty of work. Are there plenty of two and three star writing jobs that I will be guaranteed every day?

      Hi Andrea,

They have lots of jobs. I've never seen them out of jobs. You need to sign up and actually work with them to find out if you like them. It costs nothing, it's an easy sign up process.

Nobody is giving you a guarantee in writing. Based on others experience, as you can see in this thread, there is work out there for you at the content mills. Just take a chance and sign up. What do you have to lose?

      Cheers,
      Mary

You want to make 20-30 per day. Definitely doable. You keep asking if it's possible, is it guaranteed, etc.

Sign up for all the places listed, including text broker. List your services here, place a link in your sig and contribute.

Do all those things, and you will have no problems making 20/30 per day. No problems.

Many of those sources will pay quickly, although not upfront. Textbroker will pay out each Friday if you request payment by Thursday. Elance holds your funds until the assigned work has been approved by the buyer, but pays out once that happens.

There are no guaranteed customer or guarantee income if you want to treat you writing service as business. Yourself need to work hard and market your writing service. The only way to make a guarantee income is you become a worker of someone which they pay you everyday.

Open your service every place that people suggest above. Do not afraid.

It's doable with Yahoo! Voices. You don't get offered a lot up front per article anymore. Maybe $3-$6 . But you can write on virtually whatever you want and earn residuals. If you are going for $20 a day, pick a topic you know something about and write a few articles on it. They require a little bit of sourcing but otherwise a decent typist can knock out two or three in an hour. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this as the primary way to reach your goal because it takes them a few days to approve an article. I'd do it twice a week.

A few years ago, I used to write for Associated Content. There was no bidding involved and the better the quality of your articles, the more you would get paid. I think they are now called Yahoo Voices.

Part of being a freelance writer is knowing that there are no "guarantees." That being said, your financial goal is not that high. You should be able to meet it without a problem.

If you are not sure about how well you write, then offer a few trial articles for review on WF and you will find out very fast. I was not on Elance very long before finding steady work and after advertising on WF I found some great clients.

If you decide to pursue freelance writing, check out Tiffany Dow's ghostwriting course. Lots of useful info.

      Good luck!

I started with guru.com and now can make over $100 per day with clients that I sourced from there to start with, but we moved off that once trust was established. This didn't happen at once, nor with the 'free' subscription to the site since I am in Australia and didn't get sent that many projects. But once I signed up for the paid subscription I was up and running.

You could probably get paid upfront. If you're lucky to get hired by someone, they'll probably pay half upfront, and then the rest after you've finished the work.

Or... some people will pay all funds after the work is done... or... like you said, some may pay you upfront for the work required. All depends on who you work with.

If you want to get paid upfront, you need to start your own writing service and look for clients. I can't think of any site that offers to pay you upfront before you submit your work.

I work on CloudCrowd at times and they pay the very next day. I can earn 3-4 cents per word writing articles in CloudCrowd, although there's no work there sometimes. I suggest you check it out and see if it's for you. I made about $800 there last month writing and editing articles. Be forewarned that they have very strict guidelines but if you are good with words and can follow instructions, then you will make money from this platform.

Otherwise, you can start your own writing service or apply for jobs on freelancing sites.

Aside from getting private clients, you can try and apply to Demand Media Studios. No, they don't pay every single day, but they do pay every Tuesday and Friday-- if that helps.

Have you write for a while for several clients already? If so, you can create a marketable portfolio for yourself and make money easily through asking upfront payment. Occasionally I also hire writers and pay them upfront but see to it they have a well done job in the past... try to check this for help - building portfolio and marketing yourself.

Moreso, it's hard to have writing jobs with upfront payment especially if you are just starting, but who knows?

With regard to the Yahoo Voices contributor network, are we guaranteed assignments to write or do we have to qualify. I've been on the site and it states that you get paid for every piece submitted. Also, is it possible to do one of these daily or are they only offered to us sometimes?

I write full time, and have tried all the above mentioned sources at some point. Sell your services to Warriors at a rate of $5 or $6 per 400 word article to get started, and to build testimonials.

This is how I started, and I now make a full time income writing for IMing Warriors!

I will even help get you started. I will happily pay you $5 for a 400 word article, you can write it on any topic you like, and I will PayPal you the money immediately.

And they have not even contacted me. Could have had $50 in their pocket already. Some people ask for help, and when it is offered, they are not ready to accept your fig leaf.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your replies. I'm considering Yahoo Voices to start and I'm wondering if anyone knows if we can write articles about anything (eg history, literature, etc.) in order to qualify upfront payments or do they provide a list of topics that we can choose to write from?

      Andrea,

I understand if you're in a hard place and you're looking for quick payment, but you actually have a pretty good grasp on the English language and your writing seems to be well structured on here.

I would highly consider building your own website to advertise your services and letting your clients come to you, because you'll get higher quality clientele, more pay and more experience writing about content that takes effort rather than just mindless cheap content that can be churned out in 10 minutes an article.

I'm currently still working on editing my site/details and what's going to go in it before I launch it when I have time but if you want to make decent money writing, whether it be content creation or Copywriting, you definitely want to have your own website.

Can you make money without one? I'm sure there are people who do just fine without one but it sure helps with credibility and gives people a professional source to go to when they need one. Plus, you can get organic traffic from an attached blog which could bring in even more clients.

I used to be someone who sold myself cheap and I hate to see others do it. It's not fun and you'll lose part of your sanity every day dealing with some of the clientele that you have to deal with.

I've never used Yahoo's platform for payment but I imagine they have some strict guidelines on the content submitted just because of the name it's going under. Trust me though, your English and your sentence structure is far better than about 90% of the people who contact employers looking for content creation or copywriting work.

      Best of luck to you,

      Corey

        Hi

Thanks, I really appreciate your positive comments. I agree that building a website to promote my writing is a good idea. However, in the meantime, that is, until I build my experience of writing, I would like to earn an income of say $20-$30 per day from writing in the easiest way possible. I don't want to have to bid for work and I would like to have the option of writing about anything I want, even if it's about history, literature, movie stars, authors, etc. Where are these opportunities to earn this amount of small income on a daily basis without having to worry about the possibility of being turned down?

I'd like to eventually write and sell children's fiction on Kindle at places like Amazon. So, I'm trying to build up a writing career online to start earning an income as soon as possible.

Well I know nothing about Yahoo Publishing but I do know that if you sign up to Iwriter, you can get paid via the 5th of this month in 2 days if you get cranking away.

It's not a bad idea to build up a portfolio before going after real clients, but I would always check the Wanting To Hire section here and maybe consider launching an ad in the Classifieds before selling your soul to the cheap sites that have been mentioned here.

I've read somewhere after doing a search that it's difficult to get work approved on Yahoo Contributor Network. I've been to the Iwriter site and they only accept articles written on certain subjects. So, I'm unsure now about what to do. I'd like to start off getting paid for writing about anything I like. What do you suggest?

If I start by earning say $10 per day and build up from there, it would be something at least.

              Wouldn't we all?

(In the long run, you can, by becoming your own client and writing for your own business, but of course that's not "regular paid work from day 1", in the sense you're really asking about).

I would recomend doing a google search
    'upfront paying writing online'
this should get you a list of articles. Here is a link to my favorite:
    Upfront Pay Writing

This blog updates regularly with sites that pay upfront for articles and online writing. She gives a review of each and a link to sign up. I have used to sign up for a couple of services. I used to write for the content mills and when they shut down it was hard to not get paid so frequently.

I agree that long term you will want to set up your own freelance writing business, but it can be very helpful both financially and in terms of experience to write for some of these sites. Once you get used to writing every day and are more confident in your skills it becomes easier to charge others for your writing.

    Good Luck!
