Can An Accountability Partner Jumpstart Your IM Efforts?
Some of the most productive times in my life have come from working with an accountability partner. For those that don't know, an accountability partner is someone that is expecting you to follow through on what you said you would do.
The thing is: humans are generally lazy.
And if you don't have anyone to answer to, there's a higher probability of you not completing those tasks that you know you need to do.
For those of us making a living online, this is especially important. We don't have bosses telling us when to go to work, or what to do. We are the boss, and it is up to us to decide when and what we do. And if we don't get it done, there's no one there to say anything.
It's a double-edged sword. You have the freedom to make income on your own terms, but you also have to keep yourself motivated to keep doing those profitable tasks that you should be doing.
Don't get me wrong, not everyone is going to need or want an accountability partner. And that's cool. But for me, there's a certain synergy found in this type of relationship.
Just knowing that someone is expecting you to complete a tasks can motivate you to not only get it done...but to get it done well. To impress them.
A few years back, I had an accountability partner. She was awesome. She was Warrior that had similar goals and plans as I had. Online, everyone else is competition, but it never felt that way with her. We would share stories, ideas, strategies, resources, etc. It was fun.
It was a great relationship. It was competitive, but in a good way. We pushed each other, had fun, and made money doing so.
Every week we would connect. Sometimes email, or Skype, or phone calls. We would tell each other what we were planning for the following week, and what we had done the week before. It was magical. We'd have out list of "top 10 tasks" that needed to get done...these were the ten things that would make us the most money in the upcoming week. We focused on those 10 things.
I loved that part of my life....
But things changed. My accountability partner got married. She had children and is focusing most of her time in raising healthy kids and travelling. And although I am very happy for her, I do miss those magical moments. When making money online was so fun.
People seem to think that making money online is all hearts and rainbows. And although I do prefer this path compared to working at some job, it does get hard sometimes to stay focused and motivated.
Accountability partners are a way to keep you on your toes. To give you that extra bit of motivation because you know he or she is going to ask you if you did what you said you were going to do. For Internet Marketers, this is especially important.
Still looking for a new accountability partner....to touch that fire again.
