Hello, I am a brand new member. I have written a 20-page ebook about the rise of crowdsourcing in politics nationally (U.S.) and internationally. It's on Kindle called "Rise of Crowdsourced Politics." I did a press release with a company that advertised itself as being able to put it on google news. Once it was published I could not find it anywhere in google news. I'd really like to get the idea of crowdsourcing in politics publicity for the sake of changing American politics. Can you offer tips on how to get the ebook more publicity and sales?

Thank you,
-Dustin

Create a press release for your eBook. Write a blog article that tells about your eBook. Promoting your eBook through an affiliate program is a great way to generate more exposure and sales for your published work. Use the power of Social Media to advertise your eBook. Hope that helps.

    Some ideas:

Agreed, I would go at this as follows:

    1. Start a blog on the topic as their are plenty of politico junkies online that will seek out your information, make sure you publish often, include keywords they would use to find you and write some guest blog posts for other, more established political blogs to link back to yours. Do the standard syndication onto Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit, etc... as well

    2. Press release - absolutely.

    3. Social networking - especially Twitter - get into political conversations, find the influencers and reply/retweet their postings to begin to tap into a following. Whenever you post new content from #1 or #2 above - let your social network know about it

    4. You may want to take a second look at your title...while it will create some interest in those who want to know about crowdsourcing, you may want to test some alternative titles that point to a revolution in democratic politics...something BIGGER and more compelling that will attract people to your work that then points to crowdsourcing as the catalyst.

I would create my own affiliate program and then recruit as many affiliates as possible. You can actually create one and then add it to the TOP or the BOTTOM of your sales page for people to view.

In the first step you should push your targeted people towards a free product. In the second step use five different platforms in conjunction. Something like that -
    1. Twitter
    2. Google Adwords
    3. Bloggers
    4. Bookbub/Pixel of Ink/FreeEbooks.com etc
    5. Facebook

Ebook Marketing Thoughts — What’s Changed and What’s Still Working? (guest post from Collin J. Earl) | Lindsay Buroker

Check out the article to be more familiar with it. Have a plan, keep it simple, use a combination of different platforms that have both long and short term repercussions, don’t spread your efforts thin by doing many different things half way and try to get the big sight algorithms working for you.

Find blogs and mailing lists on your topic or with complementary topics and offer the owners a review copy. Get other people talking about it and it can take on a life of its own.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Definitely would choose blogging as a way of promoting your eBook but not only that as a platform for launching and selling future eBooks you create on related subjects in your area of expertise.

Start with the best Web 2.0 sites like WordPress, Blogger etc and expand your online web presence.

PS. Have you considered the document sharing sites? You could post a sample from your eBook on them and contain a link to the original to purchase.

Some other sites worth considering as well of course is eBay which are allowing digital sales again such as eBooks.

And Payloadz.com - A site I used to have success on selling eBooks but their costs are quite high if sell a lot.

Whatever you do. I'd suggest focus on collecting subscribers/optins that you can email new eBook offers to. This will pay off in the long run.

    Best!
