Some feedbacks needed about my niche

I'm planning to start a blog/website about this game I been playing for years, I'm very knowledgable and skillful at it. It is available on all major plateforms.

Just did a google adword search on it, its got 310,000 global monthly seaches and 27,000 local monthly searches and low in terms of competition. When I type it into google with quotes, it came back with 129,000,000 results which is bit worrying. I did look at many of the sites about it and non of them is about teaching people how to play.

when it comes to monetization, Im thinking of put on some affiliate links, Amazon ads (HDTVs, projectors, special offers on consoles) and some ads from the game company itself. Of course, that will not happen until I get enough traffic.

Since Im so new into IM in general, I'm not sure how many unique visitors per month I would need in order to make money from it. Based on the figures I provided, do you think it is a good niche to get into?

I'm aware that this is the step that can make or break you, many people struggle because the niche is competitive and too tought to break into.

Well congrats for actually going out there and attempting some keyword research.

First thing I would do is go back to Google Keyword tool and make sure you searched the "exact" phrase after that if you results are still similar I would go to GoDaddy and see about a domain name (pref EMD)

I would be worried about competition though, video games can be extremely hard or easy its hit or miss but thats any niche really. But think about all the stores that sell video games you have to compete with them ...

If you choose to build the site, I would say
A- make it a blog and write tips & hints
B- Video marketing like crazy (screen record yourself beating lvls or something) this engages the user and Video sites like YouTube will deliver free traffic to your site
C- Build a list, to simply email every once in a while about site updates or discounts for a product your promoting.
D- Sell it ... its a video game, eventually it will die out. Capitilize and move on

Thank you very much JPS. I just did another search on google XXXXX strategy with return of 2555 results. If I type in with quotation marks, it give 0!

D- Sell it ... its a video game, eventually it will die out. Capitilize and move on
now that worries me a bit, are you suggesting that after while it wont be as profitable? Im sure they will release more from that franchise.

This is why it is important to choose exact, that way you get the number for people searching the exact phrase for example "Online Advertising" & "Advertising Online" although it has the same 2 words we need to know what people are actually typing into the search engines. So if your keyword is saying 0 that may mean that nobody types that keyword phrase into goolge.

This was just my opinion. It really depends on how you build the site and how much you want to do maintenance. I prefer building sites getting them established and then selling them ... works for me

    Hi

The gaming niche is very popular. You don't name the game so these are pretty general ideas.

You can check out the online audience of a game to see how popular it is. You can also see if people are willing to pay to learn or just looking for free tips.

Check out twitch.tv. See if anyone broadcasts your game and how popular the channel is. You can also set up a twitch.tv account and start engaging the audience by broadcasting your own play online and giving tips/tutorials.

Search YouTube for videos of the game. Watching game play on YouTube is a huge past time. Game play videos can pick up a lot of views, especially "How To" videos if, as you say, there aren't many.

Screen record your game play as you give tutorials and upload to YouTube. If you have a twitch.tv account you can do tutorials there. Twitch integrates recording and uploading to YouTube.

Look for products at Clickbank or other digital product sites. Many game guides, tutorials and build guides are popular on Clickbank. If your game has some guides available then people are paying for the info. If there are no guides, you could test the market with your blog and create you own product for the game.

You can make money from affiliate sales with Amazon, Clickbank and CPA offers.

Amazon for accessories, hardware and physical products. Amazon has good prices on Gunnar gaming glasses with free shipping, for example.

Clickbank has a wide variety of game guides, Wow Gold Guides, etc. Some sell very well and pay recurring commissions. There is a warrior who makes gaming products and really supports his affiliates. He created Rift Supremacy and then a free WSO with a guide on how to promote it.

CPA offers are very common in the gaming niche. New launches of games will have free trial offers that are promoted through CPA networks. World of Warcraft, Star Wars:TOR and Star Trek have all used free trial CPA offers. A lot of the big 'free to play' MMORPG games promote with CPA offers.

You can search OfferVault, but gaming niche CPA is cluttered with gambling and betting products so you have to do some digging if you are just browsing for possible offers.

I wouldn't worry too much about the search competition. You will do much better to build a list and drive traffic socially through YouTube, facebook, twitch, etc.

If the game is popular and you are familiar with it, you can quickly engage your audience as an authority and start building a following.

So far all we know is that its a game in the gaming niche... Thats not a niche, that is a very big market worth a hell of a lot of money a year, you need to narrow it down to the game which you play then you will know straight away if it is worth going after. Remember you will be going up the likes of IGN and Gamespot + many others who are absoloutely killing it in that market and have very good content. All new games or frequently played online games is an extremely saturated market and will be extremely hard to get traffic for. It doesn't mean it can't be done but you will need to put a lot of effort in to gain traction in that niche.

since you are knowledgeable and experienced, why not create your own product to sell to your audience?
