when would you start mailing a new list?

If you started a new buyers only list, would you wait to you hit a certain number of subscribers before you started mailing them? if so how many before your first mailing and how many before our first promotion to them? Just curious.

You should already start mailing them from day 1 with your autoresponder.

Really? I was thinking of letting it build to about 500 then send them a few free reports before hitting them with an affiliate offer.

Really depends on how long it will take to get to 100 but they could easily forget who you are by then.

In the least use the follow up feature to keep a relationship going.

Depending how long it takes you to build the list, by the time you get to 500 subscribers your first subscribers will have forgotten who you are.

The most effective time to mail a subscriber is right after they have opted in to your list. THAT is the time when they are most interested in what you have to offer, thus why they opted in.

Treat every subscriber the same which means treating even those first subscribers exactly how you would treat them if they were your 500th subscriber.

What you can do is send out the emails and then keep them to put in the autoresponder sequence for your big list -- that way you are not 'wasting your time' writing emails when your list is only small.

selling affiliate products t your list can make you some extra income but you should really
be more focused on selling your own products

with regards to when you should start mailing, there isn't really any set rule but you don't want to just be another spammy marketer that bombards their list with offer after offer because you will soon have no list left

you should really have follow ups already in place which takes care of this anyway

I wait until I have at least ONE subscriber..

but I have this annoying habit of planning stuff out in advance, pre-loading my autoresponder with some evergreen content, etc

if this is a buyers list, you should most certainly have some preloaded AR messages to "stick" the sale.. encourage them to consume/use their purchase, to take action.. tips/pointers, case studies, etc.

Always email them on first day. Give them introduction what you will send to them later. Introduce yourself also.

The buyers list means they become your list after buying your product. So, when they sign up your opt - in, they are in a mood of buying. Make sure you engage with your subscriber and don't spoil their buying mood with your silence.

Email them day one. You want to build a relationship and if they don't know who you are they will forget you. Get them used to getting quality emails from you and In the habit of clicking on links I'm your emails. Send them some quality freebies they have to click the link to get, send them to recorded video of something of value. Just make sure they know who you are and you will only send them value. That is how you keep your list responsive and buying in the future.

yeh you should have them in a sales funnel. Or if you have a weekly newletter, then game on. It kinda sucks making all the content and great marketing emails when you have only a few on the list, but that's a sacrafice you need to make until you get bigger.

It's not about mailing them! This kinda tells me your planning on sending them more offers and crap.

Start thinking: I need to start building that relationship with them, closer and tighter, so the sooner the better. You better have "value" to share with them!

    Hi Thomas,

The people on your list consider one question paramount: What have you done for me lately?

It doesn't matter how many are on your list -- they have no idea and likely don't care if they are solitary or legion, so long as the value is there.

Never look at your subscribers as a mass audience! Communicate to the individual, even if your list is comprised of tens of thousands of individuals. And as Alexa pointed out, that individual deserves a response from day one.

    Regards,
    jim
