In autoresponders, is it possible to do the following?

What I wanted to do is that I want to never send another email to a subscriber before he finished my autoresponder series. Is it possible to do that? This is because new subscribers most of the time get offended when a promotional email is sent to them and they unsubscribe. I want to treat them first with my series of free products for a while . The problem is the campaign goes to ALL and there is no such filtering option (I'm using Imnica). If anyone has any solution would you please? Thanks.

    Use your "automation" feature to add the subscriber to a new list
    at the END of your follow ups for the first list. This is easy with
    AWeber. Watch their videos on the "automation" feature.

    This way you get them to go through your follow up series,
    then once they are on the NEW list....
    You broadcast to that new list only.

    Which autoresponder are you using? In aweber you can send emails to subscribers who subscribed to specific days before.

    It's not always true. Some people always think selling is evil. Some marketers mastered the art of selling without directly selling...It actually depends on how you are dealing with your subscribers. How you are building relationship with them.

    I stopped doing one thing- sending short spammy/salesy emails. Whatever I sell, I elaborate my views on it. Second thing, I even send them to authority sites sometimes to show effective practices (some marketer will not support this). But this increased my sales.

    I'm not understanding why you wouldn't just add to your follow up messages.

    Look at the stats and see whats going on. Change the messages if needed.

    Once you make a sale, move them to your buyers list.

    I used to have 20-40 automatic emails that went out like clock work to subscribers. I had many urges to send them a new email on any specific day because I just written a new article on that day but I knew that all those emails went out and it was a lot already.

    I did not want to send them too much so what I did is leave message number 1 as it was and deleted all the rest.

    Now I can write a new article, which I sometimes do every day, and send it to my list.

    I did not want my subscribers to get 1-2 emails per day that were already in the sequence plus the new article that I wrote for that day.

    I just woke up so am I making any sense in the post above?

    Hi awledd - by the way you have a lot more flexibility in Office Autopilot to specify who gets what. You get the same deal with the cheaper SendPepper from the same people.

    It is different from Aweber, Imnica etc, in that you only hvae one contact record per person. Then, you tag that person eg with "list a". "list b", "list z", etc. Now you can create a sequence - of, say, 6 emails and specify that you do not start the sequence if the person has the "list b" tag.

    You might have a process which removes the "list b" tag at some point. Now, that person will get the squence mentioned next time it runs.

    With common-or-garden lists managers this is relatively hard to do: and even harder to remember what you did - especially if you want to do several different arrangements. With OA, GP, and (the harder to manage and more expensive) Infusionsoft, it is bread and butter to them.

    Hope this might give food for thought!

      If your autoresponder has following feature then what you are looking for is possible.

      Setup a trigger so that when subscriber is on your your list for X number of days then automatically move them to another list. Now when you send a broadcast, dont send it to your main list but to this new list where all subscribers who have completed their cycle are moved.

    The only way to do it with ImnicaMail would be to manually create a segment based on last e-mail opened or clicked which is far from ideal and you would have to make a new segment with every broadcast you want to send.

    Sorry to say this as I have always liked Imnica and the staff there, but you would be far better off with GetResponse. I have accounts at both and GR is so much easier to use and so much more flexible. Easily worth the few dollars extra. Also, providing your lists are clean and have all of the correct provenance, you should be able to import them into GR without a forced extra opt-in.

    Really, in GR what you want to do would take seconds. Also you could set up a dynamic segment of 'prospects no longer in follow up' and use that as your broadcast list. Dynamic because prospects are automatically added to that segment as they finish the AR sequence. Again, this would take seconds to do.

    Actually, when I send out broadcasts I only ever do it based on my segments, not on individual lists.

    I have been with imnica for some months and I kind of like it but the main problem is your broadcasts are delayed sometimes. And I think this affects your marketing because time is of the essense. I also have concerns in that people subscribing will not get the confirmation mail right away and it will affect your credibility. I myself am pissed off when I subscribe to a squeeze page and when checking my inbox and spam mail, I do not get the promised material. I don't know if delays are problem with other ARs. Anyway I intend to try GR or Aweber soon.

    Guy, i would advice you to go for autoresponder like awber, they have series of video which will help to you set up things in proper way and also the automation. You can also check out getresponse too.

    I think you should use top noch products like Aweber, Getresponse, iContact or Constant Contact. They have filtering options that will make your life easier.

    Aweber is a great autoresponder. You can edit your list, you can delete subscriber(s) instantly.
    Also, you can set what list you want to send your mails for the day. You can click all just a few. And I think, filtering your lists make your job easier.

      Wow Stimpy - did not realise that! So a new subscriber getting a welcome sequence via OA does not also get hit over the head with any broadcasts you are sending to the whole list.

      That is indeed excellent. Try doing that with AW, GR, indeed!

      I love Office Autopilot.

      One tip though: never, ever, ever host a site with OA. Their hosting support really sucks, very badly - because their front line support haven't got a clue about it. I am talking about 1-3 weeks for an issue to be dealt with.

      Yes, it's the old sotry - the chasmous black hole which is "the dev team".

      In fact, you don't even need to host a site with them anyway - I only did it cos I was in a rush. Big mistake. Be warned.

      Awledd - do check out SendPepper if you are thinking of changing. SEndPepper has most of the features of Office Autopilot, but is less expensive.

      Not saying it is as cheap as AW, but at least check it out - it is a TON more sophisticated.

      Eg you can set up a sequence where a list gets an email on day 1, then all those who did not open it get it again on day 3 (with a different headline), then the same again on day 5. And all this can be set up in one operation called a sequence. You set it and forget it.

    If you are using Aweber, you can either use their automation feature to put subscribers who received the autoresponder series into a new list, or use the segmentation feature to create a new segment of subscribers who are on a certain number of message.
